See What You Must

I felt triggered over a misunderstanding with some of my extended family in the aftermath of my Dad's passing fairly recently. They made a request shortly after his Funeral which I felt was insulting. It was only when i sat with my Mom and siblings did I begin to understand their own perspectives. I still went with my hard-line stance (probably due to ego), but luckily I was in the minority.

Interpretations can be very wild sometimes. Am fascinated by them. A simple smile out of courtesy can trigger a false impression on the eyes of another and lead to (regrettable) action. How it is possible for dozens of people to look at the same scenario and give dozens of interpretations is quite impressive. Yet, just how relevant is it to still have that mix in today's World, where a different interpretation could make us enemies in the eyes of others.

I like dealing with facts, because at least those have less tendencies to be misinterpreted. These days though, it seems even the facts are under attack. There are facts given to suite certain narratives and it is all very interesting. With feelings though it is a whole different level of what opinions are all about. It is obvious that once we feel a certain way about something or someone then all opinions for or against them are going to be further enhanced.

There's no fighting it. I actually think it is a good thing to have diverse opinions. Only problem arises when we take a 'righteous Stance' and demonize those with contrary views. This is becoming increasingly popular especially in the cultural and political space. People seem to forget that as long as feelings are involved, we always reserve the exclusive rights to change our minds. The way I see it we should be very willing to constantly explore the possibilities of our own views needing work.
