I'm literally here laughing at myself because how did that thought even cross my mind? I mean, everyone has at some point in life had their own share of the feeling to belong somewhere,or maybe impress people just to look cool. We've all done something to just make someone or even people like us, it may not be the biggest of things or it might actually be. If you haven't ever done that, well I have, don't cut off my neck please just bear with me. Do you even want the story or not?

The story no too long sha
Sooooo....during my secondary school days, wonderful days in fact. I mean, a lot of things happen back then, okay, let's stay focused. As I was saying, at that time in Junior secondary, I was among the top 5 in my class but I was just so reserved, I wished I wasn't. Don't get me wrong, I was friendly, I was generally nice to everyone and everyone was nice to me and that was it. I didn't have very tight friends in class and again I wished I did . I saw how almost everyone in the class had somewhere they belonged to, the girls who felt they were the prettiest had their own group, the dancers, the singers and even the back seat boys. It was admirable, and I wanted it too. Who doesn't want to belonged somewhere or to be liked?
Fast forward to the time when this new girl joined, very beautiful girl, the prettiest in class and probably the whole school. Of course, she gained everyone's attention without trying so hard, she was quite smart, extra points for her. She was doing while I was in the science class. Not long after ,she made friends with three girls from her art class, you would see her walking always gisting and walking to class with them. Beautiful thing. When I thought nothing go more go could, she became friends with my seatmate, no, let me rephrase that, they became 'Besties',the only person I relate with so much in my class asides the general friendliness. Now during combined class where the arts and science students come together, the five of them will sit together and would even fight to secure spaces for each other. Awwwnn
Although I sit with them too because my seatmate always saves a space, I wasn't so involved in their gists and inside jokes. When they pass jokes in notes, they don't give me to read because they didn't think I was actually a part of the group. But I wanted to share in the fun too and I had to do something but I didn't know what. It was on this particular day, at lunch time,I bought out my food flask to eat, I always brought my own food to school everyday, did I forget to mention? I was popular in class for that.
Very randomly, my seatmate and her new Bestie were already complaining how they we're allowed to go out and get snacks. So when I was about to eat, I just said "you guys should come and join me". I wasn't expecting the new girl to actually be interested in the meal but she asked for a spoon and after the first taste of my heaven-ordered spaghetti, she lost her senses. Come on, normally I de cook pass Hilda. She said it was very delicious and my seatmate had to confirm that my meals are really wonderful and she was like "so this is what you enjoy here and you didn't tell me?".
Friendship mode activated
While going home that day, she asked me,"will you make another spaghetti tomorrow?. I hadn't even planned what to cook the next day but I said "yes". She asked me to make for two persons and the rest of the girls said they will eat too, so that was how I started making lunch for 6 persons every day. I was living with one of my strict aunties at that time and it wasn't easy taking out food to make for my friends but I didn't want to be the ruin things so I tried my best.During lunch, we'll all gather and eat my food and we started talking about things and things together, finally we were like a clique. We went to classes together, sat together, went home together and we also had our spot at the top students in the class.
Are you waiting to see where we left school and the friendship ended? Oh, don't be like that. We're still close friends since we left school 3 years ago, we'll forever be friends. Thanks to social media, we're connected and my seatmate is still serving Bestie goal on her status updates.
Moral of the story:
- Know how to cook spaghetti
- Be kind and share, a lot of you can be so stingy when it comes to food.
- The way to anybody's heart is through food.
T for thanks😄
