The Terrible Implication Of Suing Your Parents
I was scrolling through my Facebook some time ago and I stumbled upon a short video clip that caught my attention. In the video, a child reported his Mom to the police for spanking him.
The officer in charge of the case came over to the house and knocked. When the mother and the baby came out, he asked "Are you the little boy who reported the case of spanking?" The child said "Yes."
The officer inquired from the Mom what the child did and after she was done talking he said "Madame, next time, don't just spank him, use a belt and deal with him properly."
No matter how much right a child has, his parents are supposed to be lord over him. One thing I am grateful for is the fact that I came from the part of the world where discipline is key.
I grew up not knowing whether I had any right to sue my parents or not. It is a taboo down here, In fact, the lawyer you are reporting the case to would be the one to flog that madness out of you.
Except in the situation where a parent is maltreating a child and is fond of violence, a child should have no right to report his/her parents to the authorities for correcting him or her.
If not for the kind of discipline my parents gave me which sometimes involves punishment and flogging, I don't know how my life would have been by now.
I am not against the law but I think allowing laws that warrant children to have the liberty to report their parents is for the detriment of the society. A child that has the right to report his or her parents will not only be arrogant and disrespectful but he or she will be irresponsible and undisciplined.
I believe that the word "Child," also means naive, immature and young. How do you expect someone like that to know what is good for himself enough to be able to know that he or she was wronged? There are things that we need to take into serious consideration before passing some kind of laws into the bill.
I don't dispute the fact that there are bad parents yet, if a parent disciplines a child, the aim is always to make the child a better person in life. Children having the liberty to report their parents won't know that a little spanking was for their good, and quickly they will rush and make a call placing a report, which may eventually cause the parent a fine.
Is the government now trying to say that it loves the child and cares more for them than the parents who gave birth to them? The whole thing doesn't make sense to me.
In my opinion, such a law should never be in the Constitution at all. In my place, when siblings have a misunderstanding, and take the case to the police, they are often sent back home with elders to settle the case in the family. How much more of a child and his parents?
I am completely against such a law and I am grateful it's not active in my country, in fact even if the government allows such a law down here, no one will pay attention to it because it is completely insane and against our culture.
