It came as a stranger tumbling our walls giving us a run for our lives, a mystery it was called the tides that changed the flow of time leaving us in constant awe of what could have been. We weren't as privileged as the rest of world, we celebrate our victories and good memories at a time having it in mind autumn was near. We wished for nothing but for summer to last a lot longer than it would, helpless we were, just humans with no abilities to change tides of seasons but yet we prayed and hoped for the impossible. For the nature to grant us more time to brace ourselves for what is yet to come. Painful it will be but it matters not, amidst the sorrowful moment we reminds ourselves of laughter shared, such were the faith of El arakis the last surviving kingdom on planet arakis harbouring the last survivals of earth.
Residing with our allein neighbours was said to be best choice we humans ever made, which has prevented the extermination of our kind. Quite a difficult choices it was, to choose between extinction and our planet. Gradually the sorrowful experience that led to our stay in this new settlement started to fade, we have made a lot of progress since we got here. Some of the survivals have formed marital relations with the residents of El arakis, it was gross at first but then humans had to ensure the continuation of our kind, leading to the birth of the blue Bloods.
Having to mix two genetic structure of two species was something we never thought was possible till we tried. The first of the blue Bloods was "Elena" a creature that mimicked perfection in every way possible, so we thought. Unlike residents of El arakis with limited heights and purple bloods. Elena was a perfect replica of humans, born when summer was at its peak. It seems the hotness of the weather must have enhanced her beauty. She was every parent's dream on El arakis, I wouldn't blame them, her beauty was no match for any not even the of Elena of Troy.
With beauty so ravishing, narrow minded men of El arakis began bidding for the hands of humans in marriage Like it was the only thing that matters. A privilege granted only to the high folks in the kingdom of El arakis, suddenly our status was elevated from just foreigners to high citizens, we no longer felt the need to live in the lower grounds in the city, we were worshipped and lived like kings and queens in high towers. So it began, marital relations between humans and residents of El arakis giving birth to more blue Bloods and sharing exact same quality like Elena. In less than a year, every household harboured at least one blue blood or more.
Unlike earth, Summer last a lot longer here, I wouldn't expect any less from a planet that has more than one sun. As a result of the blazing sun during summer, El arakis sufferers a lot from drought compared to other planets in the universe, a drought that last at least 3 years or more depending on the tides of time but we never really cared about the challenges that came along with summer time seeing how beautiful the blue Bloods glows. There were a lot of speculations about the possibility of change of weather influencing a change in the blue bloods but what came next was totally unexpected.
Gradually summer time began to fade, the blazing sun became less potent than it was. It was just a rumour at first, as different household with a blue blood child began to complaining about their rapid growth. They grew faster in height and stronger like anything we have ever seen. Both humans an residents of El arakis embarked on an endless journey of seeking answers to the reason behind the mysterious growth of their children but there wasn't enough time. Summer time kept fading and we gradually welcome autumn which came with unexpected surprises.
It was late in the night when strange beings began roaming the city and city bell was set ablaze waking up every residents of El arakis to confront a new reality. It turns out the slightest cold chills that comes with autumn agitated the blue Bloods, it made them weaker than usual. In their attempt to search for a new source of energy, they descended on their parents like vampires. Sucking their blood dry and tearing them limb by limb till there was nothing left but chartered bones and naked skulls. The mystery of it all was that, after the long night of playing a game of hide and seek with the blue bloods, when morning came they all returned back to their normal selves and had no memory of what transgressed in the night.
The blue Bloods searched the hall ways for their parents and crying out loud when all they could find was their corpses. The survivals of the long night summon up the courage to hunt down the blue bloods, fathers and mothers hunting down their own children and brothers hunting their siblings. The blue Bloods looked so innocent, they were so young with no memories of what they had done but yet we hunted them till there was none of them left in our walls. Elena, the eldest of the blue Bloods led the remaining blue Bloods to a new settlement outside the boundaries of El arakis leaving a pile of corpses as a reminder of our mistakes.
Every now and then, on the last night of summer we sing songs to console ourselves and bid farewell to summer;
Oh El arakis
How beautiful you were
Among nations of beauty and wealth
Shining like a gliding meteorite
Till greed led you astray
Becoming a city of corpses
Plagued by monsters
A product of your desire
Brought upon you by summer........
A tradition to remind us of our mistakes. Preparing us for the coming of the blue Bloods who have been roaming around our borders searching for a way in to feast upon us immediately summer passes.
