Snow! The girls and I had some fun playing in the short stay of chilly frozen water crystals from the sky that gave us a belated white Christmas. When I first moved here, seasons were normal and snow could be counted on for at least two months. Now? We are lucky to have a week of the muddy antagonist. So, we make the best of it while it's here.

You ever look at a thing and it makes your eyes all watery? Snow does that to me, here anyway. It's not as permanent as the trees or seeds you plant. It doesn't have the staying power of a new playground or the longevity of a promise kept since childhood.

Have you ever tried to catch a snowflake? They melt rather quickly, even through frozen gloves or mittens. And so, the snow grows petals as a rose I stop to smell and it gives me time to reflect on things I may or may not have taken for granted. It makes me appreciate things all the more.

Things come and things go. Favorite toys and clothes ultimately get outgrown and lose their spot in the wardrobe or on the shelf. Pets grace us with their short happy memory making ways. Even people, drift in and out of our presence and sometimes completely out of our lives. Remember to cherish the time you are given as you never know how long that actually is. Also, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when the snow shows me its mirror.
