I want you to imagine for a minute or five, that it was Germany who prevailed in World War II. In doing so, they would have also dominated their Axis - Italy and Japan. Do you think that you would be where you are today? I dare say, you would be hailing Hitler as a hero since it is the winners who write the History books. You would be working a job they tell you - regardless what your strengths are. You would not play any sports. You wouldn't even be watching the Super Bowl right now - it wouldn't exist.
But would you be any the wiser? Could you handle being occupied by a dictatorship and told you can only eat the wheat bread? You don't get raisin bread or sourdough or rye, those are for Nazis. You don't get honey. That is for Nazis. You don't even get peanut butter or jelly, just bread and butter. You don't get socks and they don't care if the hard leather soles have given you gangrene and is a permanent thing in your family. They wouldn't care that your blanket has holes and your door doesn't close all the way. You're Bob Cratchit to them. A slave to do their work.
Seeing this as a possible outcome, and answering the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States decided to help put an end to such a threat. Some of those same people are alive to tell the horror and hero stories to this day. They are called our Veterans, and some of them, need our help. They say - Freedom isn't free. Take a look at this video real quick, maybe you can relate to it, or maybe, it might give you a bit of perspective on the why's.
There are many things a soldier goes through that, if you don't actually go through it, would be extremely hard for one to relate to. Movies can make you cry, they can show you some of the hopes, fears and tribulations and they can try their best to let you see through a veteran's eyes, but to live it? Be in the mind of a soldier? The Ten Commandments do not apply in war. The Bill of Rights, does not apply in some situations. For some, there are no rules, no laws, and having to experience that - I mean really live it, is hard.
So, we respect our veterans that were willing to (and did) put their lives on the line time after time to uphold what we believe in. We have enough respect, that we have decided to take action. Serious action. For the people that did the things most would never dream of, we are going to create a token. Not just any token, no. This is not to put money in our wallets. This is not to make bank on the markets for sales or build our portfolios. This is to take care of those that took care of our interests and ways of life.
Calling in the Cavalry
If you'll notice the beneficiary of this post, it isn't me. All of this is going to start funding for the creation of the CAV token up there in the first graphic that fellow vet - @inthenow - created this evening. We're not sure how long this will take. Maybe a few whales will smash the shit out of this post and that's all it will need. Maybe collectively, several of the vets (or anyone that cares to) will make posts with @tokencav as the beneficiary or maybe even - some will send some HBD or HIVE to our fiscal account.
Once we have enough to create the token, so shall it be. We had a small get together earlier this afternoon and brainstormed different ways we could help out our vets. If you'll notice in those two videos above, that was one of them. Here is a short list of some of our goals as this progresses with our real world use case CAV token:
- Donations - these can be to any other institution that is working to assist our vets. Anything from the Salvation Army, to the severely underfunded VA hospitals and organizations, even churches and other outfits.
- Property - This can be used for a multitude of things, and here is a few that we have so far -
- Shelters - wouldn't it be fantastic if we could set up our own shelters for wayward veterans? I really love this idea and would love to see it a reality.
- Housing - have you ever heard of Habitat for Humanity? What if we were to 'Send in the Cavalry' and build homes and apartments and the like for vets and their families?
- Food - We could set up local food drives and have dinners, maybe even set up a soup kitchen type establishment!
- Clothing - I know of a few homeless vets, right here in town and where they 'stay'. They could really use a new or even used coat and gloves. But beyond that, has as anyone ever heard of the Goodwill Superstore?
- Jobs - yes, jobs. By setting up some of these particular establishments, we could further the movement by adding job boards, either at/in a local public terminal or old school cork board that people can list and find some kind of job for and even have representatives do a matchmaking type service - even if it's just a day's work, $100 is better than $0.
- Medical Assistance - insurance isn't cheap, neither are operations or necessities like testing strips for diabetics, antibiotics for simple illnesses and you know this list can get real extensive real fast.
So, What IF?
So we thought, while spit-balling in the Veteran's discord server today, what if??? We realized and decided, it can happen. We just have to do it. If @ecoinstant can buy land in Columbia and if @ecency can sponsor a Nascar car and if I can buy my own kids vehicles to drive then by the power vested in Hive - we can take care of our vets too. What about you, do you want to help in some way? Drop a comment below or hop in the discord and let us know! In the meantime, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when my trigger finger never stops itching.
