there are some great pools of water on the rocks by the seashore but it's a rare occasion when conditions are just right for photographing the best reflections. the wind most be exceptionally still, the sun at the right height and a decent amount of rainwater in the pools. if the water is from the sea it's likely that the pool will have algae on the surface. that can be great for some colorful shots but not reflections. so one day when there was almost no winf i went out to one of my favorite spots and took a lot of shots. i have posted a few earlier and i will post more later but for now i hope you all enjoy these
when both the sun and your line of sight are at the right heights you can see both wonderful reflections and still see underwater to the bottom of the pool. i was lucky to get this shot which is my contest entry
the rock surrounding these pools has been carved and polished by ancient glaciers
just for fun i rotated this one. it looks like a mouth. that round yellow lichen came as a free bonus. there are quite a few patches of them all along the coastal rocks
and this one gives new meaning to the term rockface
