today was a perfect autumn day for a walk by the sea. it was mild and sunny but mostly what mattered was there was almost no wind. that is rare for this time of year and just what i was waiting for.
fairly close to home there is a rugged section of the coastal rock with some wonderful large but shallow tidal pools with lots going on under the surface. to get a decent shot with my phone the water must be almost glassy still and today it was just right.
the pools are above the mean high tide level but get ocean spray when it's windy. they are a mix of seawater and rainwater so the salinity changes according to the weather
i didn't expect this shot to be so clear otherwise i would have taken more like it.. if we get another day of this weather before the ice forms i will go back. there was one pool with a lot of bubbles on the surface and i got carried away taking shots of that
i increased the contrast in all the shots above but in the next few i have reduced it to get a more murky look
