monomad challenge: 2 waterfalls

there are a lot of waterfalls in western Norway. this series is from two different ones taken in June when the snow was still melting and the water level was high. the contrast between the shining white water and the black stone was so great that the range of shutter speeds that worked okay was quite limited. a lot of shots were either overexposed or they were so fast that they didn't capture the power and drama of the scene. here are a few that i deemed good enough to share.

the first set is from Tvinnefossen. there's not a huge amount of water falling but it is possible to walk behind the falls and take shots through it.

there is a hint of color in this shot.

the second set is from Gudbrandjuvet which is a waterfall in a gorge

i took all these shots with my S22 phone. they are edited to black and white on my laptop with the basic windows photos program. the phone has a much more sophisticated editing program but i publish my posts on my laptop and the edits that look fine on the phone often appear poorly on the laptop so i end up adjusting them before uploading. i don't know what the results are for anybody viewing the photos but i have noticed that slight changes to the viewing angle of the screen can make a big difference in how the photos look.
