my keychains

20240913_193602.jpg actually i was not planning on making a post about my keychains. i have more than a few but it is hardly a collection. i mean they just accumulate on their own. most are work related and i don't have much of a story to go along with them. i don't even remember where i acquired many of them but there are a couple that stand out so @hindavi insisted i make a post about them all. i resisted until the last moment but here goes.

20240930_192056[1].jpg this one is from my late mother. it's her zodiac sign. i'm not sure she ever used it but when going through her belongings after she passed away i was looking for some small, lightweight memoriess to bring back to Norway and this one was just right. i don't use it, i just have it. it doesn't have any monetary value but perhaps it will be an heirloom for future generations

20240930_192152[1].jpg when my son was in New Zealand he became fascinated with the maori culture. so he brought me a piupiu keychain. a piupiu is a skirt worn during traditional dances and rituals. they are made of strands of treebark but the strands on this keychain are of leather. again, i don't use it i just have it. actually i had forgotten about it until this hive collectors theme and now that i took it out again maybe i will start to use it. it's more solid than most-

20240930_192112[1].jpg when my kids were young teenagers we were very active in the sport of orienteering. running around off trail in the forest trying to find posts was an activity we all enjoyed together. there aren't a whole lot of those to choose from so we were all grateful for the clubs who organized the sport. anyway we needed a small light compass to assist in the map reading. i found this american girl scout compass keychain at a second hand shop years ago. while i did use the compass i never used it as a keychain

20240913_193721.jpg i have been a carpenter for many years and have been through an awful lot of keys throughout those years. here you can see some keychains from Statoil, where i did a number of jobs. there's a Block Watne one, they pioneered prefab housing here in Norway. there are my car keys, i've had a honda as my private car for years. after i retired i traded in my work van for a more comfortable volvo, then there's keys to my storeroom for lumber and workshop for tools etc. when you run a business there tend to be a lot of keys. and of course there's our house in India with a set off keys from a whole different world and life.

20240913_193821.jpg keys here and keys there, lots of them. at least now that i am retired i don't have any keys that don't belong to me to worry about

Sort:

It is a good collection, the compass I loved, it is a good way to find the orientation, of course, the one who knows how to use it haha that activity you mention sounds exciting and fun.

!INDEED it is both fun and challenging and brings you to places you would not normally go.. it is also very helpful in learning new places to pick berries or mushrooms or whatever. the posts to find are marked on the map and with help of the compass and map you have to find them
