Today it's been another good day when I can be thankful for quite a lot. After so many bad things that are happening around us, good days like this has to be celebrated. I've taken a short break to visit some relatives. There is a good reason to do that and also wanted to relax a bit, change the scenery and profit from what this city has to offer.
I went to the old city center of Mediaș this morning and roamed around the old historical houses, taking tons of photos. There's a bookstore/souvenir shop that I am visiting with great pleasure every time I am here. For me this place is like a candy store for kids. I'm always looking around with joy and buying souvenirs for my loved ones. The staff is very friendly, helpful and most of all, very polite. This should not surprise anyone as this should be the norm. We're talking about a business that rely heavily on sales, so all these things should come naturally but we all know it's not always the case.
This morning I approached the shop with a big smile on my face and when I stepped in the shop, I felt the same joy as every time before. After looking around I found the gifts I was looking for. Or should I say I decided to limit myself to these things as could have bought 10 times more? 😃
I bought a handmade lavender soap for my niece and a magnet with a clear message that will help her a lot in life. The other piece is a hand painted wooden disk, with another great message or it's more like a blessing. It says"peace and love hover over the house". This is for my aunt.
When I went to the counter to pay, I asked if the have magnets with Hungarian blessings, but was told all are sold out. At that point the owner of the shop came out and because she heard the conversation, she said I gave her a good idea what to focus on and invited me to visit the shop again.
This was the point when I started smiling and told her I'm coming from far and visiting the shop every year with my niece, but this time I she's missing as she's thousands of miles away for studying.
Imagine the surprise the lady on the photo above had (she's the owner by the way), when she heard she has clients from so far away, regular clients that are visiting year by year.
The truth is, we've been there many times and not just to buy souvenirs. I remember a couple of years ago, while I was here again with my niece, @melinda010100 had a shadow hunter contest, the topic for that week was shadow on wood. We were thinking of doing something cool and tried a lot of things, then we decided to create a stencil and use it to create a shadow for a cool entry.
.
These were some of the cool photos we took that day.
But the most memorable was this one. For this, we needed to create the scary face stencil and also needed supplies as we had nothing on us. So we went to this bookstore, bought a piece of paper and asked the lady if we can borrow some scissors to do a quick creative work. She not only gave us the scissors, but also invited us to the office so we can make the stencil.
Today I told the lady how kind she was a couple of years ago, letting us use her desk. You won't believe what happened next. She went back to the storage room and came back with the rose soap on the photo. She said because I'm from so far away and a regular client, she is gifting me this wonderful piece of soap, which is made with rose oil.
Her gesture was priceless, honestly and not because I got a soap bar for free. You should have seen the joy on her face. They sure know how to treat clients and that is why I am going back every time I'm around. Moments like these must be appreciated.
Unfortunately not everyone can appreciate what life has to offer, or they have a different understanding of what life has to offer.
There was this bike next to the shop. This photo was taken in August 2018, when temperatures were around 35C or higher, so flowers were already dry, but even so, I loved the bike. Today when I came out the shop noticed the bike was gone, so I asked the lady where is the bike. What do you think she told me? That's right, the bike was stolen along with another cool decoration, both the same day.
So I have learned to appreciate these moments in life and not chase big things. Big things will come if you can also appreciate the small ones. Otherwise you'll be miserable all the time. Every day has something good to offer, you just have to realize it.
