Strange Experience At The Art Gallery

in #hive-1949132 years ago

Today I was on my way to run some errands and passed by the Art Nouveau gallery. It's been some time when I last visited an exhibition there, so I thought if I'm there anyway, why not take a few minutes and see what they have exhibited this time.

The artist was a lady (don't want to reveal her name), who specializes in paintings and graphics and the exhibition was called The Memory Of Colors. I've never heard of her, but that doesn't mean anything as I can't know every artist, can I? I actually know very few.

I had a look inside and saw immediately, that it's not exactly my kind of art, but I know better, not to draw conclusions before I see everything. That would be a huge mistake.

This was the first artwork, it was called Homage To Gaudi. If you have a little knowledge in this field, you may recognize the building in the painting. If you don't, then for you, this is the Sagrada Família.

The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, shortened as the Sagrada Família, is an unfinished church in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world. Designed by architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), his work on Sagrada Família is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On 7 November 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the church and proclaimed it a minor basilica. source

The Aura Of Pain

Sometimes I have headaches and most likely that's how you illustrate it.

The Carnival Of Colors

The Kiss

I was standing in front of this painting and was thinking, how would I illustrate a kiss, or the kiss. Let's say you're in an art class and the task for the day or for the next artwork is, to illustrate the kiss. Honestly, I don't know what I would do. Apart from some lips, which would be pretty kitschy, I don't know what I would do.

Mephisto

Mephisto or Mephistopheles is one of the chief demons of German literary tradition. [source](Mephisto or Mephistopheles is one of the chief demons of German literary tradition.)

Mephistopheles, also known as Mephisto, is a demon featured in German folklore. He originally appeared in literature as the demon in the Faust legend, and has since become a stock character appearing in other works of arts and popular culture. source

Did Mephisto look like this man? Who knows. But in reality, these characters look like we imagine them. Our imagination gets free hand in this as there are no photos or drawings about them.

Symphony Of The Universe

I had a close look at the painting and had the impression of seeing some musical notes on the right side and the clef. It was an interesting one.

The Director

It's possible that this is a portrait of a real person, a movie or theater director, but I don't know any, so this is just a guess.

The Green Scarf

I was standing in front of this painting, admiring the green scarf, when I heard a voice behind me, asking who I was. 😳 For a minute I thought maybe the question was not addressed to me as since when you have to identify yourself in an art gallery, but as I was the only visitor, turned around and saw a lady standing next to me. I said I'm a simple visitor and asked why, what was the problem. It turned out me taking photos was the problem. 😳 I've been to that gallery countless times, always took photos, that has never been a problem, but I had no choice now. I was told I can take photos from far, but not of each artwork. Ok, I said.

I was trying to figure out who the lady was as I've never seen her around. Judging from the conversation she had with the lady from the gallery, I suppose it was the artist.

The reason behind this decision remains a secret to me. If someone wants to forge some paintings, they most likely would pick a well known and sought after artist, to worth the trouble. No offense.

There were a few interesting paintings, like the one in the middle.

It was called The Fantastic Beach. I liked this one due to the colors.

The same male portrait, I mean different painting, but the same model.

And this is it for today. Unfortunately not all the paintings are clearly visible, as it's hard to see details from a distance, but it is what it is, I had to respect the artist's wishes.

The pieces are beautiful .... I loved the fusion of colors and techniques..🤩

I'm glad to hear that.

Did you know that I enjoy your visits to galleries and museums? Well yes, I love reading your posts talking about it.

Lol, I didn't, but I'm really glad to hear that. I hope I can bring you more, interesting content in the future.

I've experienced the "no photos" at craft shows and "no videos" at trade shows of vendors who were conducting demos for attendees. It's definitely a thing.

There are exhibitions and museums, there they tell you from the start, the minute you set foot in the room and there are posters letting you know. But this place is not like that. The gallery has no such rule.

Right, I've seen signs like that too. I guess the "no photography up close" rule was just something the artist imposed.

Beautiful works of art. I like to see how different artists have different ways of painting, different styles that produce very interesting pieces. For example, in this case, the one called "fantastic beach", as soon as I saw it I thought of a beach, but if you look at it very carefully you realize that it is "almost abstract", that was very interesting.

Another wonderful series of photos for art lovers, they were magnificent, for every photo I see, I imagine myself there appreciating all those beautiful paintings ❤📸

I can't understand why you couldn't take photos of each one, maybe the artist was too gelous of her artworks. :P I use to visit a lot of art ehibition and usually artists are happy when people take pics of their artworks. Sure, I'm really happy when someone take pics of my pieces. ^_^

I couldn't understand either. I could if it would be about 100 years old paintings, but even so, if you don't use the flash, there's no damage done. As about forgery, as I said in my post, they would choose someone more valuable.
I'm happy to hear your opinion as you're an artist and look at things from a different perspective. 🤗

Thank you!

Amazing shots

Thank you!

Thank you for sharing this experience, I always like to see the paintings you show. In terms of paintings I love the use of colors. The one I enjoyed the most was Symphony of the Universe, I could stare at it for several minutes, I also saw some musical notes somewhere 🎶. I like the one with the beach too, I'm fond of abstract paintings 😊. All of this reminds me of when I was a kid and used to paint, I wonder if I could do it again in the future.
Anyways I love this kind of posts. Keep doing it! Greetings from Cuba 🇨🇺😊

The beach one was a really interesting one, I agree. You know, I would have spent more time looking at them, but after I was asked who I am and looked at with suspicious eyes, I had no desire to do so. After leaving, I realized there were artworks on the upper floor too and I forgot to visit that floor.

You know what is strange? The artist did not say a word to me about her paintings, or the process or anything. She was busy organizing a party. Visitors were not important.

I hope you can start painting in the near future. Good luck and greetings to you too, from Romania 🤗

I bet that experience made you feel uncomfortable, so it's understandable you forgot the second floor 😅. And about the artist, that seems a little rude of her, but it's her lost 😌.

Absolutely!

So beautiful ❤️ artwork. I like them all!

That's a good thing to hear.
