A New Year started a few days ago and it's time to write down a few thoughts in my blockchain diary. I hate new year resolutions because I think most of the people set them up because that is the trend, then forget about them, or they are just too weak to carry them out and all those fancy words get forgotten after a month or two. Instead of this fancy word, I like to call the list plan, do everything I can and stick to it, no matter what.
Today I'd like to share a few thoughts about what I'm planing for 2024.
Health, Before Anything Else
It's funny how we tend to think nothing can break or damage us because we're indestructible. This starts at the early stage of life usually and this is the period when most of the self-abuse and damage is done to the body, mostly because the immediate consequences are minimal or visible only later. Some realize they are on the wrong path pretty fast but there are quite many living in denial, till it's too late for them.
I'm not an exception either, unfortunately, why would I be? Although I'm not a hardcore abuser of anything, have never been one and I want to keep it that way, but there are still things I need to change in my life. Better now than later.
One of them is eating healthier and losing some weight. The two are connected, there's not one without the other.
The most important thing I want to change is my eating habits and diet. I started the process last year and things went well for two or three months, then I lost focus in December and most likely my weakness canceled all my progress. It hurts to lose the advantage I had and be back to square one, but as there's no turning back and changing the past, the only thing I can do now is focus on the future and make better choices from now on.
Another aspect of life I need to bring improvement to is sleep quality. It feels like this is an area that I need to work on, because it can bring several life quality improvements if it's done right, but it can cause a lot of damage as well, if neglected.
Being able to find a solution to your problems, without involving any drugs or doctors is not easy at all, but it's a huge win if you can pull it off. I'm working on adjusting my schedule in a way that I can get the necessary sleep, when it is necessary and not let anything to chance. Respecting a strict schedule is neither easy, nor fun, but it is a must if I want to be able to manage this on my own.
In my line of work, being half a sleep or not having a sharp mind can cost you quite a lot and struggling to focus is not fun at all. In theory, I know what to do, I just need to make the necessary adjustments to carry my plan out.
Invest In My Education
This is not something new to me. Have been doing it since I graduated from high school and think I will stop on the day I close my eyes forever and not sooner. Life is constantly changing, technology is evolving with breakneck speed, so neglecting education is like gluing yourself in one place for life. I don't condemn anyone for doing that, but that's not an option for me.
You make your own luck in my opinion and watching movies or playing video games is not the way to get where you want in life. It comes with a price though as there are a lot of sacrifices to be made but the end result will compensate you for everything.
I've been lucky to meet professionals and make good connections that can help me advance in the right direction and I intend to use this to my advantage. There's a revolution going on in finance, in a few years this sector will look totally different and those who are evolving will have a huge advantage, versus those who are not prepared for what's coming.
Education has always been a priority for me and I see the results of not staying idle for years. Those who called me stupid years ago for paying and attending different courses are calling me lucky now :) What did I say two paragraphs above about luck? It's ok though, no worries, I'm not gunning for anyone's approval, I'm doing it for myself and not trying to fit the mood and the expectations of anyone.
Learning Better Time Management
This is maybe the toughest one on my list, but just as important as the first two, or maybe even more important. If I can create a balance between the time available and the tasks I have each day, work more efficiently, the outcome will be better.
When I was at the university, I always said, I wish the day would have 48 hours just for me, or I wish I could stop the time, freeze life for everyone else, but me, for like 48 hours, to catch up with things and gain some advantage. Obviously this is not possible, so the only solution I have is make better, smarter choices and manage my time better. How? That's the big question!
There's no formula to follow here as we all have different lives, so I need to figure out what works for me. Failing is not an option here.
