Jason Statham is back again! Did I miss him? Oh I missed him so much. Though his last movie I watched, ’Meg 2: The Trench (2023)’ was very disappointing for me. I didn't even finish the movie, hence I didn't review it here on the platform. It was boring, bland and it didn't give Statham's vibe. So I don't count it as part of his filmography in my opinion.
When I saw the trailer of this movie, I decided not to watch it because I wanted to go watch this movie blindly. I wanted to keep the suspense as neat as possible. Well, let me tell you, it paid off. I am glad I didn't watch the trailer. Now, this movie has made me realize that bees and their keepers are the most important aspect of our ecosystem whether literally or metaphorically.
Since Jason is the star of this movie, you should know what to expect. It just like seeing Liam Neeson, ”When I find you, I will kill you”, (in his voice). It's the same thing with Jason in this movie, ”Yeahh, I'm a Beekeeper, I keep bees”, (in his voice).
Now, I love this movie so much because it exposes phishing scams and cyber crimes. In my opinion I strongly advise all old people to settle down and watch this movie so that they can learn one or two things about cyber crimes and how they become a victim without them realizing it.
’The Beekeeper (2024)’ is an action thriller film that was written by Kurt Wimmer and directed by David Ayer. It was produced by Jason Statham along with Bill Block, Chris Long, David Ayer and Kurt Wimmer. The movie centers around a former "Beekeeper" operative Adam Clay whose landlady was a victim of a phishing scam. It starred Jason Statham, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Phylicia Rashad and Jeremy Irons.
Little About The Plot.
A retired schoolteacher Mrs Eloise Parker who lives all by herself in Massachusetts, but she has a tenant in her barn who uses the barn for honey production. Adam Clay, who is Mrs Parker’s barn tenant, lives his life as a Beekeeper (not literally).
On fateful day, Mrs Parker invites Adam to her home for dinner and to appreciate him for being a good tenant. Adam accepts her offer and promises to come by for dinner. As the day went by, Mrs Parker fell victim to a phishing scam and she was robbed of over $2 million in which, the majority of the money belongs to a charity organization she helps to manage. Not knowing what to do or how to recover the funds back, she killed herself with a gun.
Meanwhile, Adam brings her a jar of honey to dine with her as promised earlier that day and finds her dead. Coincidentally, Mrs Parker’s daughter, Verona, who is an FBI agent, finds Adam in her mother's home and arrests him for murder. Later, after proper investigation, Verona discovered her mother killed herself because she was scammed.
Adam was then released after which Verona told him of the group that stole from her mother. Adam then calls in a favor from ‘The Beekeepers’, a mysterious group who are part of his past to locate the scammers responsible. Then he went on a revenge rampage. Will Adam get to the bottom of this?
My Review And Rating.
The Beekeeper is a film that is full of fast paced action and bee-related dialogue. It is satisfying and aggravating at the same time. If you are the kind of person who hates injustice, cheating and preying on the weak. This movie will draw out some emotions out of you right from the very beginning.
This movie is a mixture of John Wick and full Equalizer energy. It's a one man army bogeyman on a rampage. It was also an enriching thrill ride. All 105 minutes of the movie was retenless, unhinged, fast paced, and brutal with Jason doing what he knows how to do best in his movies. In this movie, he was stoic, serious, brutal, and was basically like a ghost. He goes in and comes out in a few minutes leaving destruction and fire behind him.
The Cast of this movie is averagely okay. Why? Because, the supporting characters’ performances were like that of an amateur, weak. The only characters that stood out to me were Jason Statham, Phylicia Rashad, Josh Hutcherson, David Witts and Jeremy Irons. The rest of the cast, I forgot that they starred in the movie at the end.
However, a character disappointed me, Verona Parker. Her role was not built well. Her character wasn't realistic. She did mourn her mother's death, there was no emotion of grief or the pain of loss. Nothing. Her character was the worst and was a nuisance.
The plot was good, it was written well, the dialogues were okay and unhinged. The storyline was interesting and satisfying to watch. It was fully packed with good humor. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The scene arrangements were excellently done. I love the pacing. It was fast, no unnecessary story, there was no mystery, it was black and white straight forward type of movie.
The action scenes were fantastic. You could hear bone snap, muscles tear and was it my imagination, I could perceive burning flesh haha. The kills were bloody, funny and satisfying. If you are a fan of the 80s and 90s action thrillers where it is all but one man against all, you will love this movie, just like I did.
The cinematography was good and the camera work was excellent. I like all the locations that were used for filming, it set the mood for the movie well.
Rating this movie, I will give it 8.8 out of 10 stars. If you don't like the old 80s cheesy action thriller, then this movie is not for you, but I recommend this movie to old people and Jason Statham's fans.
