La porcelana fría es una masa elaborada con Fécula de maíz, Cola ( pega blanca ), parafina, ácido cítrico, vaselina, glicerina y benzoato de sodio.
Todos estos ingredientes al unirlos nos da como resultado una masa moldeable que nos permite realizar con ella infinidades de figuras, en este caso la imaginación es el límite.
Para el momento de conservar la masa es importante guardarla en bolsas bien selladas que no les quede aire por dentro o en envases herméticos. Debido a que está masas realiza su proceso de secado al aire libre. Por ello si la guardamos en un lugar donde tenga una corriente de aire, ésta se irá secando.
Cuando realizamos nuestras piezas el tiempo de secado es aproximado de 24 a 48 horas dependiendo del tálamo de la pieza y también si nos encontramos en una zona donde el clima es húmedo tomará un poco más de tiempo el secado.
Cuando realizamos nuestra masa o cuando la compramos, en su mayoría vienen en color blanco. Para poder obtener los colores que deseamos los podemos pintar con pintura acrílica, poco a poco agregamos góticas de pintura y vamos amasando hasta obtener el color que deseamos. Para realizar los detalles de los ojitos o algún otro diseño se puede realizar con la misma pintura acrílica y un pincel.
Es importante saber que al momento de secado de las piezas la masa tiende a reducir su tamaño en un 30% y si deseamos que la pieza quede brillante o si queremos protegerla para que dure más, se puede cubrir con barniz a base de agua e igual dejar secar al aire libre.
