After serving a seven-game suspension, Butler returned to the Miami Heat lineup, scoring 18 points in his first game back. Despite the turmoil, Butler insists he’s focused. “I’ve done it before. This is no different. … I guess I’ve got to go and hoop,” he said earlier this season.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra summed up the current situation as one of “complexity.” He added, “It’s my job to prepare this team and get them ready to play at a high level. And that’s what I’m doing.”

The February 6 trade deadline looms large, with many expecting Butler to either be traded or leave Miami as a free agent this summer. For now, Butler is embracing the moment, saying his happiness off the court is at an “all-time high.”
