The cherries are about to mature and I still have a pile of photos of their pretty flowers in my unedited folder waiting to see the light. We have a few large sour cherry trees, and every spring they cover in the delicate white flowers. Not every year they manage to bear the fruits because of the crazy weather. But the flowers are always there.
I didn't have big expectations going to the orchard that day. I wasn't sure if the trees were already in bloom. But as I was getting closer, I could see the white clouds among some still asleep dark branches from other trees.
The branches are high enough to be able to walk under them and just enjoy all the flowers around. This is definitely the best part of spring. The fruit trees blooming time doesn't last very long, but it is just spectacular!
Soon after the petals will start falling. They are so small and delicate that with each gust of wind, it looks like it is snowing :)
Being far away from the busy road, all I could hear was the insects buzzing around them. Tons of bees, flies, beetles (which I absolutely hate), and butterflies.
Poor thing had the winds all damaged, probably from a long trip. Time to feed, mate find the place to lay the eggs and their job is done.
And what is the best thing to do from cherries?
The sour cherry vodka of course! 🤤
