Silene wildflower bw 6.jpg

At first I wanted to keep these photos in full colour. But then I started to play with editing and just out of curiosity checked how they would look like in black and white...

Well.. the weeds are pretty on their own but I like how now, with some tweaking here and there and extra contrast, all the little veins look.

So I switched them all to monochrome :)

This is one Silene flowers that grow in the wild. There is few types that I saw with smaller or bigger flowers. I think I found pink one once too. But they all have the round pouch from which petals emerge and that varies between the different types. From very round fatty ones, to more slim and long that looks more like a thicker stem.

Silene is a genus of flowering plants in the family Caryophyllaceae. Containing nearly 900 species, it is the largest genus in the family. Common names include campion and catchfly. Many Silene species are widely distributed, particularly in the northern hemisphere.

These photos were shot in Poland, but I have seen similar, or the same ones blooming in Portugal as well and they were very early spring flowers.

The flowers (the white petal part) is about 2 cm in diameter, so thy are not very big. But seen hundreds of them with th white petals among green grasses can be quite spectacular.

Ok, I lied a little bit. I kept one in colour to show you the lovely purples. I dare to say that the round bellies are prettier than the petals. Just love the veining!

The photos are very beautiful and penetrating. Eye-catching and professional

Thanks a lot :)

What a beautiful photograph of flowers. I love the way you made the flower picture so clear (as the center of interest) and then the background looks a bit faded. It makes the flowers look outstanding. Great post, Thanks for sharing

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it :)

I'm stuck. It turns out a very beautiful flower with a blend of purple and white. I thought it only grew in the Northern Hemisphere.

It is pretty cute indeed :)

Love the black and white, for me it is so often nicer than colour, especially when photographing people

I would like to have the guts to shoot people on the street. I don't usually do it as it seem invasive and I would not to have my pics taken out of the blue either :p

Ya you're right, it can happen by accident though when capturing a sunset or someone you know and strangers end up in there by accident. Or at a nudist beach.... joking with the last one obviously! 😁

Especially on the nudist bach. So many accidental people in the frame there :p
Terrible place for photos. Terrible!

😂

Great photos, very impressive and beautiful.

The lifted head and the downtrodden one standing side by side.
A beautiful picture.

Thanks for sharing💕

Thank you :)

impressive shots as always my friend. both black and white and also the color version is so nice.
the vein looks more spectacular in black and white, since it is a little bit overshadowed by the purple color on the color version.

Yes, the veins popped without the colour. I liked it :)
Thank you!

very nice view of black and white.

Thank you!

You're welcome

Wow! They look very elegant in monochrome! Amazing what simple thing could do!

I know right :D
Thanks!

Hello dear friend @ewkaw good night
I am a fan of wild plants, I find beauty in their simplicity.
Beautiful edition, it looks great in monochrome, although we must admit that it has a beautiful combination of colors
I appreciate that you share these photographs, and all the information about this beautiful plant.
have a beautiful night

Thank you! All thee little wildflowers are just as pretty as the garden ones. Just more common :)

I've noticed on some of my pics as well that some of them look better in black and white.

Yep, some just pop when you remove the colours.

Actually where I live I have seen those Silene flowers, although I don't know if they are the same species but they are very similar, I must have some photos somewhere.

It could be the same... there is just so many types!
Please drop a photo when you find it.

Hey, I'm sure I'll get some pictures of that flower. Regards !
