This was one of the most surprising and unexpected shops I saw during my recent walks around Lisbon. I was in that spot a few times before, and I have not seen it there. Now I am not sure if it is rather new or if I was just so not paying attention to anything :D
It is so colorful and so unreal that it looks like it was taken from one of Tim Burton's movies.
With all the fun decorations, ponies, oversized chairs you can take photos on, and dozens of little lamps... you just feel like a kid in a candy store.
But there are no candies... only FISH! 🤣
It's quite a brilliant idea, if you ask me. Not exactly what I would think of when someone tells me to go get a can of tuna, but it works :)
Stands, shelves, baskets, piles, and piles of tins.
Tins everywhere!!
The shop was filled with tourists. Many were just looking, but it is hard to resist getting at least one tin (I got none, though). Many had cartoon images, Portuguese cities, or dates. The one with dates also had the names of famous people born that year, so you could see who is the same age as you.
Decisions, decisions...
The cheapest ones were probably around 7 euros, if I remember right, which is still a lot compared to the regular price in a supermarket of around 1.5 euros per small tin. Other types of seafood were even more expensive!
So it looks like it's more like a fun souvenir than something to buy and eat. Now I wonder if people do eat it or just keep it.
A fairy tale mixed with a circus and Coca-Cola style adds top to bottom :)
And if that is still not enough, you can pick up a nice comic theme set...
...or a sardine gold bar.
If you even visit Lisbon and want to check it out (and I think it is worth it), it is right here:

It is colorful inside and out.
