Market Friday: Cartimar, Pasay, Philippines

in #hive-1963083 years ago

Hello! It is my first time posting here but I do like reading experiences about of going to the market, how they do it in the other countries and what's the difference with our market here in the Philippines. That is why I'm thankful to @dswigle for initiating this #marketfriday.

I rarely cook at home but when I cooked it is because there's a special occasion and because of that I rarely go to the market too. But since today is the death anniversary of my father I went out to the market and bought ingredients for my triple mushroom pancit canton with glass noodles.

Cartimar Wet and Dry Market

I went to Cartimar Market as early as 6:30 am just so I'll get the fresh vegetables that I'll need. We have one store that we usually go to as they have the best fresh vegetables that you can find. Their products are mixed of locally produced and imported vegetables that come from Korea, Taiwan, and China.

Here are some of the locally produce vegetables.

They have different kinds of mushrooms that are all imported.

Look how beautiful the capsicums (Bell pepper) are. They said that yellow ones are sweeter but I find the red one taste bettter than the yellow. Price wise, imported goods are cheaper than the locally produced. However, locally produced may be a bit higher than the imported ones I still buy for the locally produced even if it is a bit pricey just for the thought that I was able to help the local farmers by buying their produced.

Fruits are the same with vegetables, there are some that are locally harvested while there are some that is imported from the other countries too. You can find a lot of fruits in this market too. Aside from the fruits that are in the picture, they also sell, cherries, kiwi, plum, Chinese dates, and a lot more. But the imported fruits are pricey this time.

Here's the shrimp that I bought in the wet market area. One kilo is about Php480 or about $10. Can you see how fresh it is?

After an hour of getting the ingredients that I need for my menu today, I went home and started cooking. And here's my version of my triple mushroom pancit canton and glass noodle.

It's nice to learn about your recent activities and sharing your first market Friday experience. Cooking at home, especially when you have the time, is always a good idea, and you did a fantastic job with the meal, which looks delicious.

Hi sis! That pancit looks so yummy. Here many imported products are cheaper than the local ones too. And a kilo of shrimp at 10 dollars is cheap, here cost at least 20.

Have a lovely weekend, amiga! 🤗

hi sis! if only I can send some to you :)

we do have shrimps that cost at least 20 here but that are the really big ones.. the tiger shrimps cost that much.

That’s a nice way to memorialise. The shrimps do look really fresh.
The dish you cooked too.
I love cooking and baking. Maybe we go out 3 times a month hahaha for dinner. Sometimes tapas for lunch.
Have a wonderful weekend 👋🏻🤗🤗

hahaha home cooking is always my choice but when i feel lazy that's the time that I do love dining out hahaha..

have a wonderful weekend too littlebee4! and thanks for the welcome :)

You are welcome @eylz619 😁
Thank you so much.

Maybe it’s because no good restaurants are close by hahaha so I keep cooking lol 😂

hahahaha maybe but i think your cooking taste a lot better than the one you found outside :) hahaha

It will… especially where I live at the moment hahaha 🤣
Have an awesome Sunday 👋🏻☀️

have a great week ahead @littlbee4!

Thank you so much @eylz619 😁
You too, have a great week 👋🏻☀️

I love your market adventure sis :) Tagal ko d namasyal sa palengke hihi. And I feel the same way with the yellow bell pepper. I prefer the red with a bit of green in them.

And aah, your dish looks so yum!

hi sis! tagal ko ng nde nagpunta sa market haha puro online order kasi buti na lang yung suki namin andun pa din hahaha. I wonder why they said that yellow is much sweeter lol

ahaha and i wish i can send you some :)

Oh, buti nga nandon pa sya. Some people here also think the same, pati daw yung chili na yellow. Although yung iba, mas prefer pa rin nila yung native red.

Thank you :)

The pancit looks so good! 😋

On capsicum, I prefer the yellow than the red. I think that's sweeter. Hehe. The red has that flavor and aroma that I think only goes for menudo. Lol.

The bananas caught my attention. I seldom find that variety here. And the shrimp! Buttered shrimp na yaaannnn!

hahaha I like the red capsicum on salads will try again the yellow though I think its a little bland than the red one :)

hahaha konti lang banana dyan sis?

Pag salads, yellow, orange and green saken. Panluto talaga ung red. Haha

Those fruits are yummy and the pancit made me hungry.

hello nani! wait i'll visit your time line:)

Oh wow! Mine pancit lol! Pancit like that with lots of ingredients is what I like the most.

haahaha same here lee! i loved pancit with lots of ingredients.. if not.. its a boring pancit hahaha

Even instant noodles. I like to add some veggies to it :D

Welcome to #MarketFriday! I am so glad you are here @eylz619 ! That is a wonderful market and that is so interesting that the locally grown is more than the import, but, just like you, I would buy the local to support the economy. Almost everything that is imported here is more expensive.

I am a huge fan of cooking at home and eat out mostly when I am traveling or I get really lazy. :) Then eating out is an excellent option and very much enjoyed.

All of the vegetables look fresh and delicious and the market looks very well attended. It must be a very popular place. I especially love the shrimp and aren't they a nice size! In the end, the meal looks delicious and I believe I would be very happy to have some of that! Thanks so much for participating in #MarketFriday! Your post was very well put together!
