A carpet of crushed bugs is common mostly in a house where they do not clean up regularly. Some might kill bugs and forget to pack them, while some others might just keep them under the carpet.
I also heard of other insects that kill bugs, they might leave the bugs there after a nice kill.
If you find crushed bugs in your carpet, you might be dealing with carpet beetles, which are a common but usually harmless pest.
Carpet beetles are round and slightly smaller than bed bugs, and often have patterns or specks of black, white, or brown on their shells. When crushed, they leave a black or brown smear. Link
Either ways, if the insects kill the bugs and left them for you to find or you did it yourself and forgot to pack, you need to clean up. The house need to be kept clean.
