Throwback of my national service year in a foreign land

It's throwback Thursday once again and it's a joy to relieve the memory of great moments shared in the past. This week, I will be sharing what I experienced during my national service year in a foreign land between year 2021-2022. After graduation from the University, it was expected that I undergo a mandatory one year national service far from my origin so as to foster national unity.

This national service starts with a camping exercise for three (3) weeks which is for orientation to begin the national service. I was posted to the northern part of the country even though I'm from the south and through this i learnt the culture, relationships and ways of the northerners.

Part of the orientation involved drillings, match past, exercises by uniformed men of the security services. Also, i enjoyed the meals of the northerners and learnt their languages.

In addition, been a keyboardist 🎹 right from secondary school days till University, i continued with my Music career and imvolved in my activities involving music upto teaching people about keyboard who desired learning it.

Also, i was part of the health professionals during the camping exercise by the virtue of my course of study in the university and hence this gave me privilege of been part of the team that ensured adherence to Covid-19 safety guidelines. My service year taught me how to relate and live with people from different backgrounds and ethnicity and it helped/developed my leadership experience/capacity as i was the President of the lodge i stayed with fellow national corps as fondly called.

One of the major highlight of the national service to me was giving back to humanhood/community as i freely gave one (1) pant of blood to the National Blood Transfusion service and as i was involved in community development services aswell.

And at the end of the service year, a passing-out-parade was held for us and also, a thanksgiving service was held which marks the end of the mandatory national service as each person travels back to his/her various origin.

In all, the national service year was a blessing to me and i enjoyed it despite the challenges encountered in the beginning and safely i returned back to my origin after completing the national service with a national certificate and award.

Thank you all for reading.

Wow bro, is there anything you didn't do during that service? hahahahaha... It is impressive all that you learned and all that you gave of yourself to serve others and your country. I can tell you enjoyed it very much because you even had time to pose for the pictures with a big smile, even when you donated blood hahahahaha, what good memories, this was precisely what I wanted to see in this community, congratulations...
