Ok so it is always fun to talk about tokenomics and the most recent one from Splinterlands is Glint. Basically, you earn glint and can then spend it to earn different quality chests. Each chest has 2 factors to it, the likelihood of dropping a Common, Rare, Epic Legendary card and how many of these cards it could drop (there is also gold foil chance but I am ignoring it for now).
So we have 3 interesting factors, the cost of each type of chest, the likelihood that a card of a certain type will drop and how many will drop!
All of the working and logic are below but for those who just want pretty graphs look no further!
Ok so this is how much Glint you need to spend to get 1 common or rare card!
So as you can see the best approach for getting either is just buying Initiate packs.
For common card the cost increase by 136.43%, 174.12%, 300.48%, 480.86% all to get a single common card.
For rare card the cost increase by even more! 177.78% 222.22% 333.33% 555.56% all to get a single common card. However this all changes for Epic and Legendary
for Epic it is actually much better to fo the Adept or Veteran and Initiate and Elite have the same odds. Legendary gets really odd, the same odds for Adept and Veteran and same for Elite and Master!
THe workings for those who want to follow along
So the first thing to do is look at the chance of a drop and the likelihood of that card appearing. At this stage I also included glint costs as that will be come important latter
Finally, we have to find a way to normalise it all, so I decided what we are answering is, how much glint would I need to spend for each chest to get each type of card?
