In this part of the world where I live, once the clouds gets dark, the winds gets dangerous and there are visible signs of expected thunder and lightning, the people get scared because they often believe that a blackout would be the result.

In my own vicinity, we have all seen and believed that any rainfall, whether heavy or minute, can disrupt the power system. One could be basking in the joyful moment of watching their favourite TV show after some stressful work hours and in the next hour, the rain takes away that joy. If this happens after noon, we usually have to wait till the next day before power is restored. That there, is nothing to write home about especially when it is a known fact that light can still shine on us when the days gets rainy.

So, I have come to believe that this is a fault of the governments. We suffer for their inability to put useful resources to good use and invest in power supply, and until they make this a priority, we will continue to lag behind in terms of technological advancement.
