Finance During And After Christmas

in #hive-153850yesterday

The festive season is here again, and with it comes the urge to spend! From buying gifts for loved ones to hosting parties and indulging in holiday sales, it’s easy to watch your bank account dwindle faster than you can say "Merry Christmas." If you’re like me, you’ve probably had that sinking feeling in January when you realize you’ve overspent. This year, I’m determined to do things differently.

I was on a call with my boss a week ago, we discussed some new innovations to be expecting in January while we were pitching our ideas. After the meeting was over, he asked "Would you all like me to pay your salary before Christmas or on the normal date which is on the 28th"

Most people kept mute while others murmured in the background until I spoke up. "Sir, if possible, pay the money the first week of January," I said. I could hear some people screaming "Ahhhh," while others agreed with me. However, he promised to pay on the normal date.

The truth is that I had no money with me and I had some things I wanted to get but I was glad I was I requested the money to be paid on a later date because only God knows how much would be left in my account.

As I said in the intro of my blog, it is very easy to get carried away during the festive period finance-wise because there are a lot of people you would want to please, especially your loved ones.

Here are some of the tricks I use to make sure my Christmas finance don't affect my January finance.

1. Set a budget.

I am a person that works mainly with budget and if an item or a person is not on my budget, the item or person will have to wait until there is a space on my list. This has helped me plan my expenditure properly and help me avoid overspending.

2. Creative Gift.

The joy of Christmas is to give loved ones gifts, and this is where my creativity comes in. I started getting my gift from last month and I got something that can be worn, something they can remember and looks nice on them that doesn't cost much. I got a hand chain with diamonds on it, a necklace, and a wristwatch for my siblings and everyone is happy.

3. Avoid Temptation

Please run away from any urge that comes your way to buy things you are not prepared for, either food, gifts, clothes, or anything. There is no way you will not see nice things during Christmas, and these things always come at affordable prices but don't buy them. 3 affordable goods and your finance is going down the drain. After getting a crate of Pepsi, I felt like buying another but I just had to turn a blind eye because Christmas will be over and I will be left with nothing.

In Conclusion

While we celebrate Christmas with drinking and eating, let's not forget the reason for the season. Christ is the reason for this season, so in what ever we do, let's do it moderately and according to what we have. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

In all, moderation is the key. This has been my watch word because no one sends me messages to go overboard with my spending.

I won't even look your face in January if your money finish first week.

We all have budget and if our budget don't allow then we've to wait but yes that's the good thing you did start to buy gifts since last month

Yeah, everything is planning and with the right planning, one can escape debt.

Budget, creative gifts and temptation are three vital factors that would enable one live a balanced life during this festive period. Thanks for such insightful thought.

Exactly, if one can balance those three, then finance issue won't be a problem
