Tech at Its Peak: Innovating for Unity:

I remember during my product design classes, our trainer once said before asking the very question the digital lifestyle community asked. He said, for you to be someone that stands out, you must be ready for an innovation that stands out too. You need to be ready to think outside the box, then he asked

What application do you think you can build that would help many people solve a particular problem?

After asking that question, he said our answers would be our project for the class. The Digi community asked an interestingly similar question in a different way here on Hive.

Think of something that could make life easier or more exciting for you, or perhaps someone else. If you had the opportunity to create it with technology, what would it be, and how would it change your day-to-day life or even the world?

My answer would be the same because this is something I have always wanted for the African community. I would like to build an application called Africo.

The intention behind this application is to create an application where people in Africa can check the value of their country's currency with other African countries; this will benefit traders, investors, and business owners who go to other countries to get their goods or probably import and export goods outside the country. It will help them relax a little on always comparing each country's currencies against the US Dollar.

A retailer in Nigeria who wants to get some goods from the Benin Republic doesn't have to go to the bank to check for rates or other things in the bank; she can just bring out her phone, check the application, and see what the amount of rice in the Benin Republic is worth in Naira. Now, she knows how much she would need from her country to get her what she wants in the Benin Republic.

As time goes on, a token will be introduced after the succession of the first phase. This token will be tradable among all African countries, giving Africa a unified token that will be acceptable in all countries in Africa. It won't be a smooth ride, but I am sure it will benefit Africa in many ways.

I don't think I have the power to create a single currency for Africa, but everything begins somewhere. Who knows if this application will be the next big achievement for the Africans, and it could even extend to other parts of the world.

There are other applications I have worked on, but this is the one I believe will do a lot of good. Probably @nhaji01 can bring more light to this idea 🙂
