Watching great players
If you want to make the most out of your Splinterlands collection, you have to play it yourself and win! That's what's going to make the most bang for your buck. But if you want to win, you have to study the game, otherwise you'll do nothing but waste your time, all while not earning as much as you could.
That's what we're doing in Bronze TOP BATTLES Studies: we analyze three battles from the highest MMR players, learn their strategies and try improving upon them. That's how we're going to become great players that make more money. We begin after our giveaways!

@atomicnrg vs @awufos2 (link)
More meta staples versus less staples! This is a match between two players who decided different amounts for their rental budgets.
@atomicnrg tries to keep up, but Venari Wavesmith isn't enough to sustain their team. Conversely, Kelya doesn't add any magic damage output to all the wizardry that's going on, so not enough damage is dealt to Flesh Golem.
Would @atomicnrg's team usually be way more than enough to climb the ranked ladder? Heck, yes. Most opponents would easily drop to the ground. I assure you, this is enough to stay 1100+ in Silver League.
However, since we're looking at this match as a top battle, we can only frown upon Kelya, which should be replaced by an Alric Stormbringer, and the lack of 0 mana monsters. Because then it would stand a really good chance! Coral Wraith barely touches anything when it has only 2 damage.

Another good example of how you can easily climb the ladder using a summoner that's currently being printed. Obsidian is clearly very strong, and it almost beats Rennyn, but @kjchemical's Flesh Golem manages to survive an array of attacks with 1 health left.
Of course, that's more than enough to turn the tide of battle. After healing itself, ranged attackers go first, ending the life of @swole93's Flesh Golem. This event quickly escalates into a win, since the Flesh Golem that kept standing was never put down.
Maybe things would have been different, however! If @swole93 had picked Spirit Hoarder instead of Goblin Psychic or Regal Peryton, Mycelic Subspawn would have survived for a lot longer. Also, more mana would open up for more magic dealing monsters, such as Khmer Princess.
Generally speaking, while Goblin Psychic still had his uses, it feels like Regal Peryton wasn't a great choice, since attacks were targeted towards Mycelic Subspawn anyway. Peryton's speed goes to waste.
@pinheir027 vs @awufos2 (link)
Results for this match are actually pretty scary: Wizard of Eastwood wins! You'd think @awufos2's Obsidian would help their team deal enough damage, but @pinheir027's Unicorn Mustang survives everything thrown at it.
Of course, choosing Wizard of Eastwood actually didn't help their team win in any way, as not a single monster in this battle has armor points. The simple fact that Unicorn paired with Goblin Psychic was really strong awarded @pinheir027 with a very impressive victory.
Even though neither side used a legendary summoner, both players show up in the top battles board. Like them, you don't have to go overboard with rentals if you're not truly competing for a leaderboard spot. Feel free to have fun while climbing to silver, specially since these delicious reward chests get better when you're in a higher league.
