DIGITAL LITERACY FROM YOUNG AGE POST PANDEMIC

in #hive5 months ago

Adapting to new, especially imposed circumstances is a part of life changing occurrences. In most cases what looks like a tough/rough patch indirectly sharpens life to a better structure.
Remote work was the best way to keep our jobs during the pandemic.

One of my favorite part of it during the pandemic was teaching my students online as a result exposing the pupils to technology, getting researches done online which was not usually an aspect of our basic education curriculum here. Pupils where excited to learn and explore internet based homeworks such as interactive storytelling and E-books contributing to fun learning and enhancing greater understanding.

Unfortunately this aspect of learning was almost/completely discontinued after the pandemic especially to young learners. Am not shunning the importance of going to school to learn and socializing, but maybe a work day of the week could be set aside for pupils to bond with the technology.

Primary Education should not be left out in acquiring simple tech skills like coding for kids, digital citizenship curriculum etc. Early exposure to technology by introducing devices and software to children helps to familiarize them with digital tools and interface. Who knows what those little ones could invent if they are properly exposed and monitored in the tech world.

It is therefore important to impose, expose and encourage digital literacy from Young age.
