My entry for the contest hosted by @derangedvisions. If you want to join, you can read all the details here.
This is a hard one. So far outside my comfort zone. This type of photography is one of the hardest to do. So I will share some pictures. I did some evening classes on photography and one of the assignments was portrait photography and the other was making a serie of pictures around the Central Station in Antwerp. The last one was for our final paper to succeed. We were assigned a partner and had to work together.
Most of the students were focusing on the building, but we wanted to show the area. Near the station is a famous hangout for unemployed people, junks, alternative people. I would never go there alone, but I had my partner with me so we enter one of those "brown pubs". After a bit we had the guts to start talking to this man. He was an ex-prisoner and well known in the neighborhood. He was a former drugslord. Of all people we choose him! But now he was on the right track and helping out the junks. For me it's still one of the best portraits I ever made.
Here are some others from that trip.
As you can see, this is not really my style. 😁
Good luck to everyone!
