Behind the smiles on these faces was a hard yet successful activity that we accomplished. The picture was taken and owned by my husband unless stated otherwise.
It was just an ordinary day in my workstation. We had a seminar and just an ordinary seminar where we just listened to the speakers or facilitators and participated.
One of my colleagues was busy because she wanted to try having an assessment for the national certification of one of the skills needed for our professional growth. The skill was agricultural crop production. I’m not a fan of agriculture and had no interest whatsoever since it’s part of my work to have professional growth and one of the national certifications about a specific skill had already expired, I decided to join the assessment too. The disadvantage was I had zero knowledge about the skill or confidence to take the assessment. All I could think was to try and discover the result.
In order not to waste the fee of the assessment, my colleague who is part of the assessment and had knowledge about the Agri-crop gave us a glimpse of the common things needed to pass. We rendered 30 minutes for the session and another 30 minutes on the following day. So, in conclusion, I only have one hour of preparation for the incoming assessment.
The location of the assessment was in Carmen, Cebu. I convinced my husband to take a leave of absence from work to drive us to the assessment area because we needed to bring things for the assessment. My colleagues who were part of the assessment were also part of the platform namely: @selflessgem, @melit79, and @ladydreamer.
When the assessment day came, I was surprised at how the assessment was conducted. It consists of two parts: the practical exam and the oral exam. I was surprised by the practical exam because it seemed like I was a true farmer. I did the basic things necessary in farming. I achieved the marcotting and grafting but I don’t know if it was successful.
The oral exam was quite easy since I have an interest in science. Some questions are about the integration of the said subject.
At the end of the assessment, we were so happy that we passed. To have a celebration. We decided to have snacks or early dinner at Danao City the next town of Carmen. Before we ate, we posed a picture to have a memory to remember of our success that day. Officially, I have a national certification of Agriculture crop production, but I have not use it as of this time since I am not motivated to do so. I hope the time will come when I have more interest in farming and gardening.
It made me realize there is no harm in doing things far from your comfort zone. I was so brave to accept the challenge. Let things be and if it is meant for you, I’m sure it will.
