The sky river is here and it is letting loose a torrent of rain on our region. The snow decided to stay well above us by about a 1000ft elevation which is okay by me. At least right now the rain is just fine.
It tried to snow on us but I saw very little in the predawn darkness, it wasn't until the dawn began to creep that I saw the attempted snowing. We got the faintest of coatings as the coldest part of the morning hit and passed quickly. From then on it was just rain.
Have orders in for more $BBHO but only got some to powerup for #BBHOPUD.
Poor R wasn't feeling good so he stayed home from school and I got J taken over before figuring out a means of keeping the turkeys on the farm. I ended up running a length of fence across the farm to block them to the sheep pen side. Tom is MASSIVE and can't fit through the slats or fence so at least he isn't going anywhere. A couple of the hens are nimble enough still to fly up on the pallets but they didn't wander far.
Before 9am R and I got in the truck and headed to Liberty Lake to get the ham radio tower and rotator. Toivo is awesome and has been a Ham for many years. He is very accomplished at contesting and his antenna is of his design.
R was a bit cold but enjoyed playing with his dog.
Wild how many interests we share. He learned to paraglide years ago! He is a wealth of knowledge. We took the tower down and before long I had everything loaded up in the truck and R and I headed for home.
I had to do some serious cleaning to make space but the rotator head unit is in place awaiting my antenna building.
The Rohn 45 section with the length of chain link fencing tubing that will be the new vertical to hold the rotator. The Rohn is killer since I will have 3 points atop it to mount different height antennas. I will hinge it and attach it to the top of the old chimney.
The rotator is more than strong enough for the light weight antennas I will be building. SUPER happy to have the NanoVNA for testing the antennas.
The afternoon was spent watching it rain as I kept plying R with vitamin C.
@stryeyz got home from work and we headed into town to Red Robin for J's birthday dinner. Unfortunately they were short staffed so the experience was a good bit different than R's dinner.
Good food just slow service and we didn't leave until 7pm.
Back home J's presents got wrapped before he got them while I worked on getting his new laptop setup. I absolutely DESPISE microsoft and windows. It has become the worst possible O/S and bitlocker is beyond useless. The moment I get the laptop going and that bullshit turned off he is getting Ubuntu installed.
My HDD finally arrived back so now I have to find a donor drive to swap parts with. Hoping to find matching drive with matching firmware.
I ORDERED MY 3D PRINTER!!!!! HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT!!! The Creality K1C is going to be running non-stop once it is put through some paces! I have a litany of things I want to print out swimming around in the back of my head. I'll have 12 kg of filament to work with so this winter will be much less boring than prior.
It has been dumping all night but is moving off now and should dry a bit today. I'll be getting the boys to school in a bit, when the rain stops I will be out on the farm likely working on the trees I have down which will require chain sharpening first, the boys have STEM club I will pick them up from, I'll work on the tower and designing the bottom attachment point, watch videos on the 3d printer, and come up with something for dinner this evening.
