Rain, Nakusp Walk, Halcyon Hot Springs Soaking, Food, Odin's, Pool - Saturday

You'd swear it's Fall already in BC judging by the weather yesterday. It was drizzling off and on all night with some heavier rounds of rain.

By 10am we were heading north along the lake on our way to the hot springs.

We stopped in Nakusp to go check out the lake walk where we headed down the embankment to the water.

R of course managed to fall in the water on the edge and we found a bunch of really nice rocks, lots of bright white quartz. We headed back to the car and drove the rest of the way to the hot springs.

There are 4 pools, the 104F, 99F hot pools, the 86F swimming pool, then the 58F plunge pool. That is what R got into here. By the end they both were spending 6 to 10 minutes in the cold plunge.

We were in early enough there wasn't many people soaking yet.

The main pools look out over the lake and at the high mountains across. The clouds obscured them most of the time and a pretty consistent wind blew off the water.

The boys found other kids to play with and went around gathering all the pool noodles they could find to build a wall of them in the middle of the 99 pool.

We finally called it around 3pm when the restaurant opened and we could go get food. Amazing view of the lake and the food was delicious. We got well over 3 hours of soaking in.

The drive back to New Denver was easy with minimal traffic on the roads. The clouds were thick and the storm was roiling around to the west tossing bits at the region.

We got back to the dome then headed back down to Odin's for beers and so the boys could play actual games of pool.

It took a while to get R to calm down and learn how to use the pool cue properly. He is so small it isn't really easy to hold the full size cue but he eventually got it a bit.

They got 3 games played and there was only one other couple who came in for a bit while we were there.

Behind the clouds sits Valhalla provincial park with some incredible rock climbing in a high alpine environment. The fires did a number on it and a lot of the park burned over the last month+.

Today we head for home. On our way we will stop at the only internment camp memorial in Canada here in New Denver. We will probably end up going down through Colville to head home. Only a couple days before the boys are back to school and my life gets back to more normal days.
