Shopping, Brooder Prep, Laundry, Mandolin Class, Board Meeting - Wednesday

The last bit of the rains Tuesday was left in the gauge when I got up yesterday. Only .05 inch but that got us to 3/4 of an inch of rain in five days. It was a nice and clear morning and above freezing.

With J at school R and I went down to North 40 to pickup the chick feed for the chicks that arrived this morning. While there I found that they still have a nice supply of handgun ammo for relatively normal prices. $19/box 50 for Blazer 9mm and $21 for Federal.

I was happy to find they carry the organic chick starter now and I got a bag of it along with a new feeder and waterer. The waterer I have has seen many years of use and I figured a new one was warranted.

I got the water and feeder filled and in the brooder with the lights going. Even without the chicks in
I wanted the lights going to make sure it is nice and warm already when I go put them in in a little bit after getting my post done.

I kept the washer and dryer going all day long as I had my load of clothes to wash then 2 loads for each of the boys. The weekend we missed getting theirs washed as it was @stryeyz's birthday and we were more focused on that.

At 5pm I had my weekly mandolin class which I had to hard out at 5 till 6 so I could get ready for the co-op board meeting which started at 6pm. It was a fairly quick one as it was our first since the elections. We all volunteered for positions without any issues and I am treasurer again. It's sounding like we are going to be pivoting back around from the food boxes to again focus on wholesale and institutional customers. WSDA is going to be phasing the free food box program out and that line of funds will be drying up so we have to be proactively regaining customers around the region.

Nice, bright, and full looking moon was coming up behind the trees to the east when we went out.

This morning I went and got the chicks at 6am and they are in the kitchen where it is warm until I can get them out to the brooder. The freeze dryer will be done as well, before bed last night I added 8 hours of extra time so it wouldn't shut off while I was asleep and when I woke up this morning it had only used an hour of the extra time. I will get the next batch going once I get the trays out. This evening the boys have wrestling practice which will be largely weigh ins for Saturday as they asked that each team get it done so it won't be as difficult the morning of the matches.

What was in the freeze dryer?

Were the chicks meat birds? Or some layers? How many did you get? I'm all about others' chick posts, as I won't have any again this year. :((
