After my orientation course in camp, I was posted to Imane in olamagboro LGA kogi state. The inhabitants of this village is the Igala people and they speak the Igala language. Most of the Igala people are Farmers. They plant different crops like yam, ugwu, melon, cashew, okro, ogbono, mango, e.t.c. they also produce Palm oil. The greetings in Igala language are: "ola odudu" meaning Good morning, "Ola oroka" meaning Good afternoon,"Ola ane" meaning Good evening. "Agba" means thank you.
Today I decided take a walk around my PPA(my primary place of assignment) with my colleague and I noticed that there's only one roundabout in Imane.
According to the villagers, the roundabout was built by a man popularly known as "Baba ifa irukere Aya orunmila"
I also noticed that the igala people built a hut separately for relaxation. The name of this hut is called "Atakpa".The Atakpa is also used to hold meetings .
The Igala people have a reservoir for collecting rain water. Some of them make use of pipe while others make use of zinc to channel the water to the reservoir. And this water can be used to bath, wash and some of the villagers use it to cook.
My colleague was enjoying the walk she wanted us to keep walking but I got tired and she kept on pushing me and encouraging me saying walking is part of exercise.
We walked for more than I hour
I couldn't help but take pictures of her
Thanks for reading!
