When it comes to waterfalls, the island of Negros Oriental is endowed with many and many other interesting scenic sights that needs to be discover. If you are a nature lover or traveler then this is the place you should consider to visit. I have visited all the popular waterfalls in this island and definitely I haven't seen all the waterfalls and that's going to be one of my mission as I am fascinated with this nature.
Lourdes Falls is one of the well known waterfalls in the area. It is also dubbed as " Niagara falls' of Negros Oriental due to its height so impressively tall.
As possible, I will only be sharing my favorites Water Falls in my blogs. Each waterfall is different. Some of it are very easy to access, some requires freaking rock climbing, very difficult to reach and would requires hours of hiking, some are very impossible to find so getting a tour guide is advisable. But that's just all part of the adventure . But if you are a thrill seeker and want exciting waterfalls adventure, go ahead and do it , just make sure you find your way back like marking your trail/ territory, hang something colorful in the trees. Well, this post is not about when you're lost in the woods, maybe I'll write about that here soon.
This is when I came home visited my mom along with my sister and brother. But I won't stay home whenever I'm home, haha. Lot's of places to visit. I woke up 4 am in the morning and first thing in my mind was Lourdes falls. Without hesitation, I annoyed my siblings, woke them up and forcefully convinced them to go with me to the falls. desperately,I can't take a 'no' answers when it comes to this fascination. My no choice brother got up and drove us to the area..he was so quite..That was silent treatment I guess but I did not entertain his drama, lol. He was revived and back to his clown mode by the time he saw the waterfalls. Thanks, goodness!
This is where we parked our bike. They are locals living here and they used to guides tourists but since pandemic, this place has become quite making it more like unspoiled place. In fact only few tourist visiting here because it's a long way drive from Dumaguete and this place is very secluded. No commercial buildings, no bistros ,no nothing, just bring your food if you wish to stay a bit longer.
Hhhhmmm my sister who is an animal lover. Can't keep her hands off from these cutie little piglets. Anyway, we informed the locals our whereabout incase we need help.
She think we were lost following the water sound but couldn't see any sign. My brother disappeared like lightning, so we just hoped to find the spot for we couldn't see other path but a single slippery one.
The hike started off the flat ground and these beautiful purple wild flowers are hard to not notice.
So slippery, get ready for your boots to soak in a muddy pathways.
This is the final path descended down towards the river Lourdes Falls. My sister who was afraid of dying decided to never followed us down. But she got the best view as well from where she tarried. My brother and I stayed at the foot of the falls filled with awe , overwhelmed by the beauty of the majestic waterfalls. He also found treasure sign carved in stone. This place is believed to have treasure hidden during the Japanese regime in Philippines. But I told him to not touch it and just disregard for safety reason. It was raining that morning and we could see the water color changed ,possible to have flashflood where we were standing, my brother who's very cautious told me to withdraw right away.
You actually have two option. You can choose to stay up here and admire the view of the falls or hike down the cliff to the water's edge. Had it have been better path down, my sister would have climbed down too. Maybe next time if chances permit. We didn't hike any farther after an hours in the waterfalls. My brother still have to go to work so we headed straight home. There was no other tourist would have been nice to stay a bit. My sister and I are looking forward to another time around. Hope you enjoy the photos and thank you for checking my post.
