Dwarf coconuts, would only take 3 years of waiting.
Nothing compares to growing up on a farm. Waking up in morning, house covered in fogs, watching sunrises and sunsets, being surrounded by animals, watching fireflies in a cluster that coveres the trees all over. Nothing could beat the memories of the upbringing. Do you ever miss your childhood memories and wishing how good it would be if it were same up to these days? I do!
Choosing where to live is never easy specially for parents, or parents-to-be or young parents like me. After all, there are certain benefits to urban life. However, one trend has become apparent over the past few years which is urban living tend to be more attractive to younger parents for many reasons: Good educational options, more jobs upportunity to mention a few.
Happy to be reunited with her gandma and counsin.
Living in the city is one of the decisions I've regretted lately because there are many things that my child miss, she could have play freely outdoors with friends though she have had joined in an organized sports, the experience and lifestyle just waaayyyy so different. We know for the fact that outdoor play enables children to practise and develop key skills faster. It's hard to trust out there or to comprimise for her saftey so most of the time she's on her gadget when I'm busy working. It's been a struggle to encourage her to love reading or studying than to playing gadget and have no learning. As parents. we are responsible how they are shaped, molding them into a better person, their personality, character. In short, raising kid is tough.
OK, enough of that self-sermon! I should have been as well a good listener to my parents. 😀
Visiting my parents and our farm is not an option, it's a must! I best believe my child would develop an appreciation for the land and a connection to nature. She should learned not to be afraid of little dirt, you see, going to our farm land is not a walking distance from the highway once jumping off from the motorbike. It would take a 25-minute walk, crossing a muddy river, walking in hilly cliff, you have to earn soreness in your legs and thighs in reaching the farm. Don't worry, this workout will add years to your life.
Yehey! Once again! Harvesting rice...
Always excited whenever I come home. It's a HOME! There's this flashback, memories so vivid. So timely when we arrived, they have started to harvest the rice and I was able to helped them get done with it. Photos on the left that was a month interval to photos on the right. Boots on to protect yourslef from the leech and longsleeve from getting itchy..maybe just to a minimal amount, lol
Mom caught in the act😃
The reason why she doesn't like to live with us in the city. This is where her world revolve, farming and raising animals. She only visit us when she miss us...somethimes...the city food, the street light in array. I can't blame her, I love EVERYTHING in the country.
Unlimited water supply. No On-and-off- switch.
Time to wash off the dirt that managed to annoyed the feet, itchy skin like all over after hauling the cut straw rice. The first thing was- I quenced my thirst. This is real mineral water, unprocessed- no added chemical. Soon I will hate leaving the place. I definitely love it here.
Free range animals
What other animals do they have but not in the photo? for a valid that they are not allowed to roam around and you know why...😃 Pigs, goats, carabaos, cows.
Animals that live more natural life with greater freedom of movement and are not feed with food laboratory are more nutritious. One of the specail dish my mom would prepare is Chicken Tinola a traditional Filipino comfort food that usually consists of chicken, chilli, leafy greens, papaya, and ginger. sometimes added with coconut milk ( which I prefer).
I remember vividly,we had the best story time during the meals and before bed. Nothing could be better than my fathers’ stories / sermons.
Our meals were fresh straight out of the garden, and you ran barefoot everywhere you went except when running in the rice field. I don't want my daughter to miss-out to enjoy free- spirited upbringing.
You share a family passion and your siblings become your best friends and you know what it means to be selfless. You learned to care for another. Although we may have had our moments of throwing mugs and plates at one another, and if things got worst our father was like the tyrant coach, without hesitation, would use a stick, so quick with a lightning speed, we couldn't even see the stick it beat against our skin.lol. the bond between us is unbreakable.
Banana Plantain also called Rhino horn banana
Pineapple
Cashew
There are more in the farm that I wasn't able to take photo of like coffee, cacao and other root crops. For me there is no better place to be raised, no other upbringing can compare. I'm glad that my daughter enjoy it too, she's playing with her cousins outside most of the time, sprinting butterflies and dragonflies. Then after a while they were catching tiny fish in the ponds and played with water snails and their eggs. What? They completely forgot mindcraft! That was our quick visit on the farm. How about you,Where would you prefer to live and why? I have never ending stories to tell but I'm afraid I have to stop at this point. Thank you for checking my post!
