My garden updates aren't very spectacular this year. Due to the army of snails and slugs a lot of my crops unfortunately haven't survived.
My cucumber and zucchini that did very well last year are miserable little plants at the moment.
Cherry tomatoes
The only crop that is doing well until now are the tomatoes. They keep on growing very well. I have reserved a better spot in my garden for them so they get a bit more sun. I had to prune them a lot and they also had plenty small flowers which indicates they will grow a lot of tomatoes too, doesn't it?
They are quite tall already, so I think I need to stop them from growing any higher before I leave for a three week holiday at the end of July.
Fruit
I have varying degrees of success with my fruit trees and shrubs. My plum tree has produced a lot of plums. Last year all plums had an some kind of worm in them. I don't see the transparent gel-like substance on my plums this year. I do see something has been nibbling on some of them, but most of them are still intact. I did cover the tree with a net to prevent birds from eating my plums.
Some of them are already changing colors from green to red/purple.
Who has been nibbling on these?

I also received a strawbarry plant for my birthday recently. Luckily it's a hanging basket, so the snails and slugs cannot reach it.
The strawberries are still a bit small, but they taste very good.
The blueberry bush also has quite some berries. They are still green, but they will eventually turn blue.
Oxeye
One of the eyecatchers in my backyard is the Oxeye. It has beautiful big green leaves and loads of nice yellow flower. When they wither they turn brown. The flowers attract a lot of flying insects. I've already photographed a lot of bees with my macro camera today. But that is for another post.
It amazes me every year how this plant dies of completely in winter, returns in spring and grows into a large flowering bush in summer.
Plant propagation
In my post from a few weeks ago I blogged that I was doing something new. I've started propagating plants. I've started trying to propagate indoor plants, but I also have successfully propagated some mint herbs.
It's so easy. I just cut off some stems, put them in a small bottle with some water and they start growing roots in a few days already.
After the main roots start growing subroots I put them in a pot with some soil. And voila! there is a new mint plant.
I've also cut off some of the runners that my raspberry plant created. I even managed so sell a few I had offered on a popular website for second-hand items. I won't get rich from it, but hey! These plants are literally doing the most work.
Indoor plants
I'm also growing and propagating my indoor plants. As you can see I have quite a few Peperomioides. These plants multiply themselves very rapidly in their own pot. You only have to remove them from the pot of the motherplant.
I'm also trying to sell these, but since they propogate that easy there is not a lot of interest in them yet. I just keep them and let them grow bigger. Maybe someone will be interested in bigger plants.
In the middle there is a plant I have bought myself. It's a Syngonium Albo variegata. I bought it a few months ago and it has grown two extra leaves already.
I really like the white patterns on the leaves.
I have cut off one leaf and put it in water to see if I can propagate this one myself too.
I have put some of my propagations in a greenhouse I was gifted for my birthday.
The last plant I want to show is a special one. It's a Alocasia Bambino Pink Variety. I've bought this one as a really tiny plant. It will grow green leaves with pink spots on it. I'm really curious what it will look like in a few months.
It's quite a rare species, so I've paid quite a bit of money for this one. But I've seen quite some of them that were a bit bigger being offered for a lot more than that. So I just have to be patient and maybe someday I will be able to multiply this plant too.
