Hello fellow Cinephiles
I'm back with my Monday's suggestion!
This movie was simply put on play for me to watch. With no background whatsoever, besides the fact it was one of Richard Gere's comeback movies.
I'm talking about:
source
- Title: "Three Christs"
- Director: Jon Avnet
- Cast: Richard Gere; Bradley Withford; Charlotte Hope; Julianna Margulies; Kevin Pollak; Walton Goggins; Peter Dinklage;
- Genre(s): Drama;
- Released: 2017
- Runtime: 1h 49m
- Plot: Dr. Alan Stone, an academic psychotherapist gets an opportunity to work closely with paranoid schizophrenic patients. He then encounters three patients who claim to be the righteous "Jesus Christ". In a time (1950/60) where treatment had little to zero humane perspective, Dr. Alan defies boundaries by bringing the three Christs together and trying a more humane treatment.

- My opinion: First and foremost, movies related to mental health issues are either a hit or a miss. Playing the part of a troubled mind is not for everyone, while it has to be very realistic it can't overboard, running the risk of looking like a mockery.
And this one, is a hit!!!
In a time where shock therapy was like over the counter meds, Dr. Alan is a breakthrough. Pay the deserved attention to patients feelings he unravels the reason behind no improvement.
The last movies I remember Richard Gere being on were pretty much rom-coms and I wasn't much of a fan. In here we can see the man trying to get back his glory!
The whole cast is a house hold name to be honest, two "Game of Throne" members: Charlotte Hope and Peter Dinklage - if he had me as a Lannister, now I'm an unconditional fan!
Julianna Margulies, any "Good Wife" fan?
And the list goes on!
If you are looking for a no-miss, this is it!
