HIS STORY or HISTORY
Terrifying to behold, Deeplurkers are a poisonous fish that dwell at the bottom of the ocean and prey on the weak. However, they are known to travel to the surface in times of dire need. Many believe that they are sensitive to the balance of elemental water magic and, when that balance is in danger, the Deeplurkers rise to attack or defend it.
The Kulu Swimhunters swam just below the surface of the water, following the Praetorian fishing vessel. When it lowered its sails and came to a halt, they would strike.
Movement from the depths below caught the eye of one Swimhunter. He turned his tentacled head to peer down. Something large rose toward them. Before he could call out a warning, a massive Deeplurker swam into their midst in a churn of frothing water.
Its grotesque tongue lolled as the enormous fish seized the smallest Swimhunter by the waist, teeth tearing into rubbery flesh. Another churn of water, and the Deeplurker descended into darkness with its prey.
The remaining Kulu Swimhunters scattered, fleeing in all directions, and the Praetorian fishing vessel sailed on, blissfully unaware of how close its crew had come to their demise.
The Deeplurker is a Chaos Legion edition card I really enjoy using because on every game he is summoned he is a big threat for the opponent. He has to be dealt with as soon as possible or he will just hack and slash through all enemy cards and back liners. This is mostly because of his high attack, 3 damage per hit and his special ability, OPPORTUNITY.
I know that opportunity cards are preffered in the back-line, but in today's battle, I used it as my first card, dumb move?
Stars of the show
Stats after the battle start (buffs & debuffs)
With +1 on Attack and Health, Tarsa summoner can present quite an intimidating team. Even so, Kenya Frendul had my back on this fight and with additional speed and +1 armor even on my back liners, I believed in my team.
Full Melee Attackers
After almost two full rounds, my team only lost the armor provided by the Kenya, while the opponent lost his main tank, the Living Lava. I always have a hard time dealing with that card but it seems I have found a good recipe.
The outcome
Within 4 rounds, the battle was over, with my entire team alive, only the Deeplurker being hurt, which was expected as he was my front line this time. The battle panned out exactly how I pictured it when I selected each card.
Other than this team lineup I am sure the opponent would have won because of the really high Attack Tarsa was able to provide for her team.
I would like to invite you to watch this battle live.
The idea behind my lineup was based on my opponent history, using Living Lava and other melee attackers is almost all of his last 5 games. Even though this information is provided for every battle, I still find a hard time countering Living Lava and his buddies. They are just very strong to face and deal with. Before this battle, I lost every single fight in this day trying to beat similar match-ups with no success.
Deeplurker occupied the first position as he had the highest amount of health and the ability to dish out most damage in one hit while providing cover for the Magic Attackers, which surprinsingly was a role he filled with golden stars. I, would always use an OPPORTUNITY card in the back, but not this time.
On my 2nd and 3rd position I have placed my most fragile friends, under the cover of the mighty DEEPLURKER, while decimating the enemy team.
My last position was occupied by the least prone to death damage dealer, in case my opponent had an opportunity card as well, which he had.
This is recipe and a team composition I will surely hold onto for a while because it is the first time I was able to win against a team made up with Living Lava and Tarsa. I would try this deck against a Death melee deck as those can prove to be quite challenging to defeat as well, especially when the opponent has a Thorns card as a tank.
I have to say I am quite impressed about what Deeplurker was able to do in this battle. I have used him before, but mostly in the back-line. From now on, it will probably be my go-to card for a match-up like this. He does it all.
I still have to find a right position for him in the back, as a way to improve my deck arsenal in general.
