On this blog, I always enjoy mixing things up a bit. I don’t always want to talk about specific video games, that’s why you’ll see stuff like videos posted on here. About a week or so ago I posted a blog about adding to my video game collection, and for the past week, I thought to myself that it may have come across as bragging, and if it did I apologize for that. I generally like talking about my purchases, especially video game-related, mostly because there are no fellow nerds around me. So with this blog post, I hope you don’t take it as bragging either, because I’m pretty pumped with what I’m going to talk about.
My mother has always said I am lucky, and she is partially right. Last spring I had an opportunity to get a job that paid really well, however, the company ghosted me for three months. This really disappointed me as I was hoping to get this job and start collecting video games with the money I was making.
So over the summer, I was looking for a job. Come August my mother let me know that a position up at her work came available, she’s a Personal Support Worker, who works with Special Needs individuals, and that I should apply. I thought sure, why not. Over the years running my parents' pizzeria, I often did deals, and volunteered up at the home, and plus the pay was almost as good as the other job I applied to. Sure enough, I applied, and I got hired right away because the boss really liked my attitude.
So I got a casual position until a full-time one opens up and the hours for the most part are really good. This is why I started to add to my video game collection. After my bills are paid and that, I still usually have a decent sum of money left over.
My mother says I’m lucky because things always seem to fall in my lap, I wouldn’t argue about that with her, but I would say I believe it is more Karma. I try to live a good life, helping people when I can, and not expecting anything in return, and it seems like the world, maybe some higher power takes notice once in a while.

Hace aproximadamente una semana publiqué un blog sobre cómo aumentar mi colección de videojuegos y, durante la semana pasada, pensé que podría haber parecido una fanfarronería y, si así fuera, me disculpo por ello. Generalmente me gusta hablar de mis compras, especialmente las relacionadas con videojuegos, sobre todo porque no hay compañeros nerds a mi alrededor. Entonces, con esta publicación de blog, espero que tampoco la tomes como una fanfarronería, porque estoy bastante entusiasmado con lo que voy a hablar.
Mi madre siempre ha dicho que tengo suerte y en parte tiene razón. La primavera pasada tuve la oportunidad de conseguir un trabajo que pagaba muy bien, sin embargo, la empresa me engañó durante tres meses. Esto realmente me decepcionó porque esperaba conseguir este trabajo y comenzar a coleccionar videojuegos con el dinero que estaba ganando.
Así que durante el verano estuve buscando trabajo. En agosto, mi madre me informó que había un puesto disponible en su trabajo, ella es una trabajadora de apoyo personal, que trabaja con personas con necesidades especiales, y que debería postularme. Pensé seguro, ¿por qué no? A lo largo de los años que dirigí la pizzería de mis padres, a menudo hice tratos y me ofrecí como voluntario en la casa, y además el salario era casi tan bueno como el del otro trabajo al que postulé. Efectivamente, presenté mi solicitud y me contrataron de inmediato porque al jefe realmente le gustó mi actitud.
Así que conseguí un puesto informal hasta que se abrió uno de tiempo completo y los horarios en su mayor parte son realmente buenos. Por eso comencé a agregar a mi colección de videojuegos. Después de pagar mis cuentas, normalmente todavía me sobra una buena suma de dinero.
Mi madre dice que tengo suerte porque las cosas siempre parecen caer en mi regazo, no discutiría eso con ella, pero diría que creo que es más Karma. Intento vivir una buena vida, ayudando a la gente cuando puedo y sin esperar nada a cambio, y parece que el mundo, tal vez algún poder superior se da cuenta de vez en cuando.

So a couple of weeks ago I went into the city and saw that some bookshelves at Walmart were going for 65 bucks. I wanted to get one, as I wanted to replace my dresser, which I had my books on as a backdrop for my videos with something else. So I bought that bookshelf, moved my dresser out of my computer room and had a nerd collection of books sitting on there.

Quería conseguir uno, ya que quería reemplazar mi cómoda, en la que tenía mis libros como telón de fondo para mis vídeos, por algo más. Así que compré esa estantería, saqué mi cómoda de mi sala de computadoras y tenía una colección de libros nerds allí.
But since then I wanted to grab another few shelves, for my game collection for a few reasons. One of which is just for the looks, and the other to signify my nerd status to people who may watch my videos. So when I was in the city yesterday I stopped in at Walmart again. At first I was going to grab two of these shelves, One for my consoles, the other for my games. But I stopped myself because I wasn’t sure how bare the shelves would look, so just opted to get one.
Putting the shelf together was easy, after I did it before. The hard part was choosing where to place what. I ultimately settled with having the 360 games on the first shelf, PS2/PS3 games on the second, consoles on the third, and PS4 games on the fourth.

Uno de los cuales es solo por la apariencia y el otro para indicar mi condición de nerd a las personas que puedan ver mis videos. Entonces, cuando estuve en la ciudad ayer, paré nuevamente en Walmart. Al principio iba a coger dos de estos estantes, uno para mis consolas y el otro para mis juegos. Pero me detuve porque no estaba seguro de qué tan vacíos se verían los estantes, así que opté por comprar uno.
Armar el estante fue fácil, después de que lo hice antes. Lo difícil fue elegir dónde colocar qué. Al final me conformé con tener los juegos 360 en el primer estante, los juegos de PS2/PS3 en el segundo, las consolas en el tercero y los juegos de PS4 en el cuarto.
But I also ran into another problem. I had no idea how I wanted to organize my series. If you’ve read my post about adding some games to the collection, you’ll know that I started collecting RE games. The ones I have now are Code Veronica, Outbreak, Umbrella Chronicles, and RE5. And if you know anything about the games, you’d know that RE5 and Umbrella Chronicles are on different consoles.
Ultimately, I decided that I would put the series together, even if they aren’t on the same console. Ideally, I want to get the majority of the RE titles, on Playstation.

I was a little disappointed, however, with how few ps3 games I actually had. For some reason, I thought I had a lot more, like enough to take up a shelf easily. In fact, I’m still pretty sure I do, but hey, maybe it was a glitch in the matrix or something that made me believe that!
On the very top of my shelf, you can see that I have a few different things, firstly I have my TLOU part 2 collectors edition. Even though I hate the game, I paid $300+ for the collector's edition, so you’re damn right I’m going to display it. Besides it I have my 3 360s, a controller, my Switch, and of course the new home for my Chucky dolls! Oh yeah, Gamergeek is a horror movie junkie!
! [Spanish]Sin embargo, me decepcionó un poco los pocos juegos de ps3 que tenía. Por alguna razón, pensé que tenía mucho más, suficiente para ocupar un estante fácilmente. De hecho, todavía estoy bastante seguro de que sí, pero bueno, ¡tal vez fue un fallo en la matriz o algo que me hizo creer eso!

I’ll also be having a few more games coming in in the next weeks, in fact 4 of them! I’ll have RE2, and 3, for the PS1 coming in, Resident Evil Outbreak Files 2, and Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City for the ps3.
The cost for the PS1 games were nuts. For RE3 I paid $100 CAD, for RE2 I paid $80, for Outbreak (PS2) I paid $50, and the cheapest of the bunch was ORC which only cost like $15.

With all this stuff coming in I plan on doing let’s plays on here of the games. However I am unsure of how I want to go about it. A part of me wants to use an emulator as it would be easier, however I also want an authentic experience. I heard that CRTVs are the best for playing the old games, so I’ve been tempted to buy one for a few bucks and sort of make a “retro” corner, and just use my cheap capture card for the gameplay.
I guess I still have a week or so to figure out what I want to do when it comes to that stuff! Honestly, I love posting about this stuff, I like varying my content up once and a while, and I hope you enjoyed my ramblings!
! [Spanish]Con todo esto que viene, planeo seguir jugando aquí de los juegos. Sin embargo, no estoy seguro de cómo quiero hacerlo. Una parte de mí quiere usar un emulador porque sería más fácil, sin embargo también quiero una experiencia auténtica. Escuché que los CRTV son los mejores para jugar juegos antiguos, así que estuve tentado de comprar uno por unos cuantos dólares y hacer una especie de rincón "retro", y simplemente usar mi tarjeta de captura barata para el juego.
¡Supongo que todavía tengo aproximadamente una semana para descubrir qué quiero hacer con esas cosas! Honestamente, me encanta publicar sobre estas cosas, me gusta variar mi contenido de vez en cuando y espero que hayas disfrutado de mis divagaciones.
