Nexus mods is a site that I used to use all the time for all of my modding needs. I remember first discovering the site, when I was looking for some mods for Dragon Age, and was just amazed at some of the stuff I found there. Like a redesign mod for the game, a mod that made any class able to open up locked chest with a bash option, and things like that.
In fact, I would say that every gamer out there knows what this site is. Afterall it is the go too for all of your modding needs. They even have a subscription based service where you can pay a monthly fee for uncapped download speeds. And this subscription also came with a mod manager called Vortex, so instead of having to manually install the mods into the games folders, the mod manager took care of it.

It was a site that seemed to be made in heaven, that was until a couple of years ago when they decided to start taking sides in the culture war, despite claiming they werent.
There’s plenty of games out there that include things just so they can be “diverse”, and the Spiderman game was one of those things. In the game you can find LGBT flags, and murals over the place, and some people didn’t like this. So they uploaded a mod from a burner account to Nexus Mods that removes these things. And what did Nexus Mods do? They banned the burner account, the main account and removed the mod. They said that if the user uploaded it from a main account that they would have just removed it, but this was apparently done as a troll attempt.

But was that actually true? Would Nexus mods only have removed the mod? Well no, because you see the same thing happened with the game Hogwarts Legacy. Hogwarts Legacy is a perfect example of the anti cancel culture crowd. Despite the numerous cries for boycotts, it succeeded in sales.
Now in the game there is a trans character called Sirona Ryan, which there’s a whole other controversy there as people against the game thought it was the devs making fun of trans people as the name sounds like Sir Ryan, who is a trans Male to Female. As soon as you talk to this character you know something is up by the tone of the voice. Well, a modder found the issue had to do with the pitch found in the game files and fixed it up and Sirona Ryan sounded a lot more feminine. Well, Nexus Mods didn’t like this and banned the user, and the mod.

Ahora en el juego hay un personaje trans llamado Sirona Ryan, lo cual genera otra controversia ya que las personas en contra del juego pensaron que eran los desarrolladores quienes se burlaban de las personas trans, ya que el nombre suena como Sir Ryan, que es un hombre trans a una mujer. . Tan pronto como hablas con este personaje, sabes que algo pasa por el tono de voz. Bueno, un modder descubrió que el problema tenía que ver con el tono que se encontraba en los archivos del juego y lo arregló y Sirona Ryan sonaba mucho más femenina. Bueno, a Nexus Mods no le gustó esto y prohibió al usuario y al mod.
Most recently we had Nexus Mods strike a 3rd time when it came to Starfield. This was another game there was some controversy around. A lot of people were going to say it would be woke because of the pronoun option in the game, but in all honesty it really isn’t. A few woke moments don’t make a game woke. However, a modder came forward and created a mod that removed this option. And what did Nexus Mods do? Did you say ban the modder and remove the mod? If you said yes, you are correct.

Now if Nexus mods wanted to ban all mods relating to Gender Identity Politics, I’d be all for it. In fact I’d praise them for it. Fair treatment across the board I say. But that isn’t the case, because if you take a scroll through their website you’ll find mods that turn things “LGBT Friendly” like the “Trans Women of Skyrim mod.”
Throughout this entire thing, Nexus Mods have been trying to act all high and mighty, like they’re the good guys and not the hypocrites they actually are. For instance, they cross the line at a mod that removes LGBT flags for a game, but are fine with a mod that turns Dragon Age into a softcore porno. Makes perfect sense right?

It was because of these actions that I stopped using the site. It’s just something that I can not support morally or ethically. I hate hypocrites, and I’d be damned if I give them any business.
As an old middle school friend of mine would say, Nexus Mods not only sucks, but they suck and swallow!
