Hello friends, How are you all ?? Wishing you all happy and prosperous life ahead..
There is a queue of festivals started in India, there are festivals one after the other and each one is fun in its own way and we celebrate it traditionally,I had told about Navratri celebration in the last blog and in this blog I will tell about Dussehra that where do we celebrate it and how?
Dussehra is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India celebrated before one month before the Diwali (India' biggest Festival). It marks the victory of good over evil and is observed with great enthusiasm and devotion. Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashami and is celebrated in its own way in every state of India.
The most popular story behind Dussehra comes from the Indian epic, Ramayana. According to this story, Lord Ram ji was exiled for 16 years and lived in the forest with his wife Sita m and brother Laxman, When Lord Ram ji fought a fierce battle with the demon king Ravana. Ravana had kidnapped Ramaโs wife, Sita, and taken her to his kingdom of Lanka,And Ram ji won, he defeated Ravana. So that's why we devotees celebrate Ram ji's victory.
Let me tell you my way how Dussehra is celebrated in my house? Seeing neelkanth or Indian roller on the festival is said to be auspicious.
On the Dusshera day, people if villages catch Neelkanth and bring him in a cage. He takes bird from house to house and people look at him as it is auspicious to see it,In return we give them money. By seeing this, there should never be any sadness in our life, may the year be filled with prosperity and happiness.
The sight of fish swimming in water on the day of Vijaya Dashami is also considered auspicious. If you are going somewhere and see a fish in a river or pond on the way, then it is a good omen,In my city, small children bring fish in a bucket and show it to every house. But fortunately, whenever the children brought fish, I was not at home or I was busy with work, so for the first time in Dussehra, this happened that That I did not see any swimming fish.It is said that if you are not able to see floating fish on the day of Dussehra, then see curd fish in your house, which is also auspicious to see.
Then we made preparations for the puja as you can see the puja plate. Roli(red Colour)rice and specially yellow flowers are kept in it.
As per my custom on that day that we make 10 imaginary faces of Ravana from cow dung and killed thats with weapon like Gun, knife, Scissors etc. We worship all the tools in the house and always pray to God that these tools never harm us.

My Father always wrote Vardha of the East, Neer of the West, Horse of the North, Chir of the South on a blank diary or copy on the durresha and make a Swastika and worship Shri Ram with water, Akshat(Rice), Roli and flowers.
So, this is how we celebrate the festival of Dussehra. Have you heard about such rituals and traditions before? Do let me know in the comment section.
