The Adam Project - Time Travel Exists

What would you do if you could go back in time? Even better, what would you do if you could go back in time and see your younger self? My guess is many of you would tell your younger selves to buy as many of bitcoin and other cryptos as possible. Some of you even might reveals the secrets of the future and become creators of bitcoin and other crypto projects. Time travel is a fascinating and though provoking topic. Of course it is not real. At least for now. :) It only lives in our imaginations and it has been explored through many angles. Especially, time travel has been imagined and reimagined time and a time again through books and film.

Traveling through time has been one of the special themes in science fiction films. It has gain popularity in the previous century, and continues to be explored in the current films. The Adam Project is a new movie on Netflix, and has just been released. It too takes on a mission of telling a story of time travel. It is not one of the greatest movies I have seen on the topic. I am not too impressed. However, it is still a good entertainment movie. If you don't have anything else to watch on a movie night, might as well watch the Adam Project.

Spoiler Alert: I tend to reveal spoilers in my post about movies and tv shows. If you haven't seen the movie yet, but planning to, please stop reading here.

The story is about Adam. Adam is a pilot from the future, year 2050, where time travel has become a normal thing. Not everything is right in the future. It is not clear what the problem is in the future. I feel like there is more story to be told about this future world of 2050. We don't get to see any of it, except for beginning of the movie when Adam is stealing the time travel capable jet to jump in to the past. Later in the movie we can see that future is advanced in technology through flying jets, fighting robo-soldiers, weapons, etc. But it is till not clear how the future world is like.

Then there is another Adam. Twelve year old Adam from 2022, who lost his father only a year ago, is bullied at school on daily basis. He live with his mother in a house somewhere in the woods like surrounding. They do have a really nice house in the nature. His mother has been grieving the loss of her husband but also trying to keep it together and be strong for Adam, the kid.

For initially unknown adult Adam from the future steals the time travel capable jet and runs away from superiors into the past. Later it is revealed he is on a rescue mission to save his wife, who also is form the future and also travel back in time, for some unknown reason. Adam was trying to get to 2018, the last known time location of his wife. But due to technical malfunctions of the jet it jumps into 2022. He is injured with a bullet wound and end up landing the jet in the woods just near his childhood house.

That's where old and young Adams meet with each other. Conversations between these two are quite funny at times. It becomes obvious to the kid Adam really quick that adult Adam is his future self. Interactions between these two Adams are probably the best parts of the movie. However, the movie tries to tell the story of multiple relationships. Relationship between younger and older Adam and his mother, Adam and father, Adam and his wife. And they try to squeeze in these stories into one mission of saving the future.

Where it fails, in my opinion, is having a smooth transition between these stories and linking them properly so it does seem like they are trying to do a lot at the same time, and leaving some pieces untold. The main theme of the movie is younger and older Adams teaming up to fix the future. To do that they need to travel back in time again to find their father, who turns out to be the one who invented time travel in the first place.

So, they do that. Travel back in time. Find their father. The scene where they meet their father is poorly done. For some reason, the father knows right away who the older Adam is and calls him by name. Af the father has been expecting this day to happen. Other things that don't make sense are somehow Adam's wife finds him in 2022 and shows up right at the moment of fighting and saves them. But then after this reunion, Adam easily decides to leave her to be killed, to travel back in time to see his father and save the future. They could have easily taken Laura, Adam's wife with them to travel back again. They don't. Oh well.

Adams travel back to 2018 to find their father. They are on the mission to save the future. It still not clear what the future problems are, except that their father's partner Maya Sorian, used time travel to change time and make herself more powerful in the future. Ok, so? That doesn't really explain dystopian future. Someone who already had access to time travel in the first place, travels back becomes a little bit more powerful. Life goes on. The movie makes it sound like time travel turned the future into some bad world. But doesn't show how bad things are. That's why it doesn't make sense what was the point of the entire mission. Initially, the mission was a love story, a husband in search for his wife. Then it turned into something else where the initial mission became completely irrelevant.

Another problem I see with this movie is, it hasn't brought anything new about time travel, it failed in reimagining time travel. Even as a science fiction movie, it seems like it borrowed a lot from the previous movies like Star Wars and others. Perhaps all the angels of time travel has been explored already in films, and there is nothing new to imagine. Or perhaps it was just a lazy work of story writers and producers to just take the ideas of the past and reuse them now.

I don't rate movies. I simply categorize them as waste of time, ok to watch, must watch. The Adam Project lands in ok to watch category. Have you seen the movie yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

I am going to watch the movie tonight so not going to read this until midnight. 😂

I haven't watch the movie but I hope to watch it when am less busy today

I actually watched it this weekend and to tell you the truth, I thought the movie is not that good in the beginning, but it actually turned out to be ok.

I for one is not really a fan of sci-fi friction movies . Time travels , spaceships images don’t really thrill me as such . So thanks for spoiling the movie already 😆😆 have a blissful week!

Although this movie wasn't a great movie, it was a sweet movie for me. It was weird watching two annoying characters at the same time :)

I used to watch a lot of sci fi, when I was able to suspend my disbelief. I think I'll sit this one out.
😴
(I did like the new Matrix, but how much of that was fiction?)

Such a disappointing story! The only thing I liked was the humor because of Ryan Reynolds. That's it!

This kind of movies are of interest of me. I don't get bored while watching them. Thank you for recommend. I will not read the spoiler :)

I watched the movie and thought it was okay. The movie was entertaining and Ryan Reynolds is funny. After I was finished watching the movie I didn't feel like I had wasted my time. So if you are a Ryan Reynolds fan you may enjoy the movie. !hivebits !PIZZA

I just love this director, I think he's really good at action movies but also these long take movies are his potential, I heard he's also the next one to direct Deadpool so I'm excited for what's to come!

If time travel is real, I would love to tell my younger self to start reading the bible and discover that man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Great read @geekgirl :)

A lot of Star wars in there.

Saw it yesterday. See it like you, it was ok to watch but nothing special. I like Ryan Reynolds😆.

netflix saying i should watch it, you said it, so i watched it :D

it was ok. Adams conversations were mostly fun and probably best in the movie. ones with the father did not land for me.

Spoilers
i am also not sure about the end. nothing changed?

YES, for sure I would tell my younger self to buy all the BTC possible. I wonder if that is one of the things the bad lady told her yonger self to do.

The reason they said a few time was how the plane was DNA coded so only Adam could be in the cockpit for the plane to work. Since the younger Adam had the same DNA, he could be in the plane too, but not her or anyone else. :)

Have not watched the movie, which I think is good to review on

I have not see this movie yet. Now this reminds me of back to the future series. They were fun to watch. The movie has average to good review on IMDb.com !

How is this finance relates? Did you post via leofinance by accident? Anyways, use cinetv.io for movies 😂

I covered finance in the first paragraph. I did try cinetv.io after your recommendation. The ads were annoying, so I stopped using it.

Leofinance has become my default posing front-end. That's why I automatically go there, regardless the topic. I really don't like using private keys everywhere and keep switching platforms.

It's your fault I use Leofinance in the first place.

yes I did see it yesterday, but I did feel the same. In the beginning, the movie was going good by the end it was just a crap movie. if you have money and fame that doesn't mean whatever you will make it will be great I do love the actor Ryan Reynolds, but the movie was not that good.
I will not consider that to anyone 😉 if you want to waste your time there please go on

One of the hardest concepts to put in a movie if i may say, its always harder for one to change the pased without significanly altering the futer or where they endup and how everything pans out...Sound like a good recomendation to see and critic given it has begun on this note

Just feel like I seen the movie already
You did a great job in your narrative. Thanks for saving that screen time for me

It didn't look like something I would like even though I generally like time travel movies. Your review didn't sell it for me either so I will likely pass on it.

It is not one of the greatest movies I have seen on the topic.

What time travel movies did you really like?

Back to the future movies would be at the top of the list. Predestination is really good. Idiocracy is funny. These are few I can remember right now. Travelers and 12 Monkeys tv shows are good too.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Good choices.
Predestination was a bit of a mind bender on the first watch.

The story line is like another time travel movie I watched titled Alice. Alice is the future world in 2050 with a detective trying to find his mother's killer and had to travel to the past 2012 when he was still 18 to do so.

The lines are almost thesame. Slight difference is Adam father created time travel and in Alice the detective mother created time travel. Both of them are looking for their dead parents while still alive (in the past) so that they could save the future.

I'd have to say it lands in my ok to watch as well. It's enjoyable and fun but pretty predicable and nothing really sticks with you after the movie is over. However the time goes go by fast and keeps you engaged enough that you don't feel like you totally wasted your time you could never get back after lol

And yeah, an okayish watch 📺

I was expecting a blog about physics... :D As I am not very versed in movies those days, there probability I won't probably watch this one is huge (as for any movie). Therefore, I am afraid I won't write any meaningful comment this time ;)

Cheers and have a good week!

I haven't watched it but from the review, it looks like it starts off good but ends off quite bad. So I think I will skip it.

Lol.. thanks for the spoiler alert. Had to put a break, need to go watch the movie first 😂😂

Guess what: I subscribed to Netflix earlier last week, and we watched this movie with the kids on Saturday evening.

We actually started with Spiderman Homecoming, before turning it off after 15 minutes (this Spiderman movie was really, really really a bad movie according to our taste). We then looked for something different and we picked the Adam Project that was ranked quite high in the selections of the day.

I didn't make the connection immediately with the movie discussed in this blog, as the title in French was very different from the English one (with the kids, we must watch movies in French). It only came later. At the end, it is definitely an "ok to watch" movie as a family movie (my kids are still quite young). I managed not to fall asleep...

I enjoyed it as some light entertainment. Don't try to take the time travel stuff too seriously as it doesn't make much sense. It's just a plot device and not science. The effects are adequate, but we take them for granted these days.

Kids in movies can be annoying, but young Adam was not too bad and you felt for him as he suffered with the bullies. It did have some emotional depth with the various relationships between different Adams and his parents. It's quite a small set main actors really, but then it may not have the budget of a movie that is aimed at cinemas. Netflix are spending a lot on content though.

As we pay for Netflix anyway having such movies is a nice bonus. I've still got loads on there I'd like to watch eventually. This was fun for my Friday evening.

I think that this film did not bring new ideas about time travel like other films, I wanted to see people who traveled through time in the past, but when they returned to the present, events of the future changed, for example, I also wanted to know if the time we spend in the past has relations with age in terms of increasing age or our age stop until we return to the present, for me it is unlikely to be applied and a fictional idea, many films are just a waste of time in terms of repeating the same thing.

The only thing which grabbed my attention was the concept of the inner child, the fact that the older version of Adam had to go back in time in order to understand some wounds. Maybe without some concepts about inner healing and the inner child many people who watched this movie might have not noticed this detail at all. For me...it was the only thing which made me say: uh , kinda nice.
