I was reading the blog from my sis, @hetty-rowan, and saw the POB Photochallenge by @friendlymoose. And thought, "Hey, that's interesting". That is a challenge I can participate in, and it gave me the inspiration to go for it. Often enough I have a lack of inspiration, I really don't know how everyone is doing it, but I often seem to struggle to find a subject. Not because I don't know anything to talk about, but more that I'm thinking, "Why would anyone want to read this?". Anyways, Now I got handed a subject to write about, a challenge to participate in, and here we go!
Our house
Is located in Oss, North Brabant in the Netherlands. This street was built in 1956 and is a major thoroughfare, this area is called Schadewijk and is recently being renovated. No, not our house, 😊 this is an owner-occupied house that we bought in 2016.
We had some work to do
When we bought this house we had a narrow, separate kitchen. One of those where on one side was the counter block, and on the other side you had to cook your food and where you had a meter wide in between to be able to maneuver. We found that too oppressive, since we are both not the slimmest, 😉. So it became an open kitchen concept and we placed a large hook beam between the room and the kitchen, as there was already 1 between the front and and back room, which had already been converted into 1 large room.
We're not done yet
Due to various setbacks, we were unable to do anything else, except for painting and a new bathroom upstairs. And now we have to do our garden, because it is starting to sag at the front of the house, partly because there is a rat infestation in our neighborhood and the municipality is not doing anything about it. So I'm busy looking around for tiles that can be picked up somewhere for free, often enough they're there, but there aren't enough, ;-) and I don't want a mixed bag. We hope to be able to tackle the front yard this year and spray it clean at the back.
this photo is taken when we bought the house, the hedges you see are gone, only the rhodondendron is there still, the three little boxes are filled with hydrangea's
I fear for the shed
We have a front garden of about 6 x 6 meters, and the back garden is 11 x 6 meters, there is another rickety shed in it, and if our neighbor goes through with his plans and wants to tear down half of the shed, I have my doubts whether our shed will remain, ;-) . Anyway, then that also needs to be replaced, we can immediately make it across the entire width of the garden, just like the neighbor on the other side did.
It's our house
For the time being we still live here nicely and we are very happy with our house! Nice and close to the shops and the city, although we hardly get there ;-) And for me not far away from my volunteer work in the community center.
