If you're anything like me then games like resource games and management are a big win for you. I'm not sure what it is but in any RTS game I went as heavy resources as possible lol There's just something about stacking and accumulating wealth to fuel your armies etc that just clicks for me. This is also why I heavily end up playing those grindy games for example the newest big hyped release Lost ark which is super grindy with lots of leveling up.
Alright so what does that mean to the crypto space and play2earn [p2e] games?
Stacking and accumulating resources over time leads to some rather amazing things. In this example I'm going to go with Splinterlands which is a play to earn game on the Hive Blockchain.
*First let me start out this article by saying this is pure speculation and for entertainment purposes only.
The Packs
Back in the day you could buy packs for $2 each which had 5 cards in each. These cards would range from common to legendary and some of them even had gold foils! Those same cards now have values of at the lowest $0.66 up to $9.98 for a common card! That means a pack that cost you $2 then if you sold your 4 common cards you'd land somewhere around $20-40 that's not even including the rare card that you're guaranteed to have at least one of. With that one rare card you're looking at the lowest $2.80 and upwards of $95 for the summoner card or $45 for the top rare monster card. That now puts your 5 cards at anywhere around $20 - $100 in value! all from a $2 investment.
Fast forward to right now and Chaos packs are selling for $4 each and there's double the amount. There's also the other thing to factor in more players. Once all packs sold out and cards start selling that means you could see $10-$50 in value or better for the cards themselves. Which also leads me to believe unopened packs would go for about $25 each.
SplinterShards [SPS]
It's hard to believe but the SPS airdrop has been going on for 208 days now which means there are 157 more days left in the airdrop. That's still a sizeable chunk of airdrop days before we start earning SPS from battles, guild battles and so forth.
What does that mean for us stackers/ resource gathers in gaming?
Simple STACK ALL YOUR SPS and STAKE MORE! Right now the price of SPS is at an all time low which makes sense since much of the spotlight work of SPS is now out of focus. Remember what Chaos packs released into early alpha and you could only buy them with vouchers? Well that time will most likely come again some time by the end of this year which means prices will spike again.
Not only that SPS offers a lot more to you. You earn a 3 second APY on your staked SPS but you also earn vouchers which continue to have increased use cases. We saw Vouchers start out at $15 - $20 and down to an all time low of $1-$2 which is starting to pick up a bit as new use cases get entered such as the Special Waka Spiritblade promo happening in just under 5 days.
We use to have promo cards like this back in Beta days and I have to say those promo cards hold a rather high value.
Airdrop Continues
I'm sure as the airdrop starts coming to a close and finally does close we will see prices dip on certain things like crazy. For example the SPT token I feel will be sold to a sole crushing bottom as there will be little to no use case for it anymore. DEC will most likely be sold as it will no longer hold a 1:1 value point towards the air drop. We may even see cards high lower prices as holding them won't contribute to the air drop. For sure it will be interesting to see what happens once the air drop claim period is complete.
I suspect a heavy sell off of everything and from there a increase again once land is released. To me that means leading up to and after the airdrop phase is done stacking up on SPS and cards will be my priority until we start getting some release announcements on land.
