What is Wrong With Recruiting?
If you believe in the program or product that you are offering, then absolutely nothing is wrong with recruiting. If you are trying something new because you think it will make you a lot of money then you will have a problem with almost every aspect of your new business.
Ever experience an awesome movie or television show that just gets into your brain and it seems like that is all you can talk about? This is pretty normal for our modern popular culture. When I was yacking away about Tombstone, a western released in 1993 that actually vilifies violence in the old west; never did I feel like I was trying to sell something to someone. I was just having a great conversation with family and friends about a great movie.
The difference is in my attitude
Being a shy kid that grew into a shy teenager, and that developed into a shy adult, sales always left a bad taste in my mouth. The real reason for these feelings was in my attitude. I was shy that is true; however, whenever I was in my comfort zone of speaking to close family members and friends, my opinion flowed freely sometimes too freely.
Talking about a movie that we are passionate about, even inviting friends and family to watch with us. The fact that I was willing to pay full price for a movie that I have already seen, was the deal closer. Regardless of the decade the price to see a movie is an expense that most of us can do without. Yet I was so passionate about the movie that I paid to see it more than once and so did a few of my friends.
Passion Equals Success
This is true with everything, from being a student to getting that first job, to starting your own business, passion is everything. If you have no passion then do not do it. At one time we were all students that took a menial entry-level jobs.
How hard was it to report for a job trading your time for just a little bit of money doing something you have no interest in. This can be a special kind of hell we build for ourselves right here on Earth especially if we have a boss that hates their life.
Would You Believe?
Sometimes we have our back against a wall and any job is better than no job. When building a business can you believe some people do the same thing? Rather than build a business that they are passionate about they build a business where they have to sell themselves by showing up every day.
I would think that when building a business that a person like myself would build something that inspires passion.
Here are the clues that passion exists.
- You can’t stop thinking about it.
- You look forward to waking up just so you can work on it.
- When you are not working on it you are thinking about working on it.
- You can’t stop talking about it.
If you do not experience all four of the above then move on because you are not really passionate about it.
