Recently, there is a place that for some reason I keep remembering and wanting to go back to. Rikugien, a Japanese garden in Honkomagome, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.
These photo were taken in 2018 when I visited Rikugien with my older son, who was 5 years old at the time. He was (and probably still is) an odd child, not a fan of Disneyland, but he loved the Japanese gardens, and I recall that he was very happy to go around the garden at this time. It was in mid-April, before the birth of my second son so we went there for a walk as well. The azaleas were just beginning to bloom. We walked around the same spot in circles over and over.
I checked Rikugien's website today and found out that there will be a light-up of weeping cherry trees in late March. Hmmm... I'm curious, but it will be very crowded since it has been 4 years since the last time it was held due to COVID-19. I'd like to go back there in the daytime, even if it's not light-up. I am sure my second son would love it.

最近、ふと思い出してまた行きたいなーと思っている場所があります。六義園、文京区本駒込にある日本庭園です。
写真は2018年、当時5歳の長男と一緒に六義園に行った時のものです。長男はディズニーランドが苦手で、日本庭園が好きという謎の幼児でしたが（たぶん今もそう）、この時もとても喜んで園内を回っていたことを思い出します。次男の出産前ということで、半分ウォーキングのために行ったのでした。4月中旬、咲き始めのツツジの花が綺麗で、同じ場所を何度もぐるぐると歩き回りました。
きょう六義園のHPを見たところ、3月下旬に枝垂桜のライトアップがあるとのこと。コロナのため2019年を最後に開催されていなかったのが、ついに今年再開となるそうです。うーん気になるけど、4年ぶりの開催ということもあって混みそうですよね。ライトアップでなくても、昼間の庭園でいいのでまた行きたいな。なんとなく、次男も気に入るような気がします。
