Introduction
Another weekly challenge released (Splinterlands, 2022), again with the Dragons theme, being allowed any battle with cards from this Splinter. In today's post I will talk about Quix the Devious:
- -01 Speed: Reduces the speed of all enemies by 01.
- -01 Ranged Attack: Reduces enemies' ranged attack by 01.
Quix the Devious is a very versatile summoner, reducing ranged attack by 1 and enemy team movement speed by 1. Combining this summoner with monsters that have Swiftness or Slow abilities can guarantee few hits from the enemy team, especially if your tank has the Phase ability to also dodge magic attacks. I have already presented a strategy similar to this combination in Greengineer (2022-a) using the Nightmare monster and in this post I used the Almo Cambio and Void Dragon monsters.
The strategy before the battle
The battle had Spreading Fury and Close Range rules active, 42 MP available, and only Fire Splinter was disabled. With Spreading Fury active it was possible to repeat the strategy
of using a tank with a lot of movement speed and with the ability Phase combined with Summoner and Monsters that increase the speed of allies and reduce the speed of enemies. Since Conqueror Jacek was unavailable and Kitty was out of my budget, I opted for Quix The Devious to slow the enemy team's movement speed. With the Swiftness buff I put the Spirit Miner, Supply Runner and Lira the Dark monsters in third, fourth and fifth positions respectively. In the first two positions I placed the Almo Cambio with Immunity and Phase and the Void Dragon with Flying, Void Armor and Phase respectively. On the backline I put the Lightning Dragon with Stun and Piercing.
Once the team was set up, I hoped my opponent didn't come with Byzantine Kitty and luckily for me that didn't happen:
The battle
My opponent came with Summoner Obsidian with Grund as a tank with Double Strike and Trample. In second position he had Prismatic Energy with Magic Reflect and Void. In third position was Queen Mycelia with Protect, Amplify and Triage. In fourth position was Doctor Blight with Affliction, Camouflage, Poison and Scavenger. In fifth position was the Halfling Alchemist with Halving and Redemption. In last position was Mycelic Slipspawn with Taunt and Forcefield.
My opponent's strategy was to destroy my team with the combination of a strong melee attack on the front line and the magic attack of his other allies. As the Grund doesn't have any defensive abilities, Mycelic Slipspawn would do the job of ensuring its survival. Movement speed was not a stat my opponent was concerned about, and it would be good for me as presented in the sequel.
In the first round my Almo Cambio was hit by Prismatic Energy, increasing its movement speed to 12. For the rest of the round no enemy attacks hit Almo Cambio. Mycelic Slipspawn lost a lot of HP but was healed by Queen Mycelia.
In the second round the Mycelic Slipspawn was shot down. None of my opponent's attacks hit Almo Cambio this round.
In the third round it was Grund's turn to go to the grave. Almo Cambio followed without taking damage this round.
In the fourth round the Halfling Alchemist was eliminated, activating Redemption and taking 01 life from all my allies. But this increased their movement speed even more.
In the fifth round Prismatic Energy was eliminated and Almo Cambio remained untouched.
In the sixth round, Queen Mycelia was executed and Doctor Blight left the match, guaranteeing me the victory.
The strategy described in this post proved to be very versatile, and can be used with different Splinters. My opponent was unfortunate that he didn't come with more movement speed, which made it all a walk in the park. Quix the Devious fulfilled his role with honors.
I hope you enjoyed the battle, if you want to follow it in detail just click on Greengineer (2022-b).

A batalha tinha as regras Spreading Fury e Close Range ativas, 42 de MP disponíveis e apenas o Splinter do Fogo estava desabilitado.
A batalha
No restante do round nenhum ataque inimigo atingiu o Almo Cambio.
