Introduction
Another weekly challenge released (Splinterlands, 2022), this time about a card from the Earth Splinter and the Chaos Legion Set, the Hill Giant.
With the release of the Chaos Legion Set, all Splinters, with the exception of Dragon Splinter, received a tank with a cost of 03 to 04 MP for summoning, and in Earth Splinter this monster is the Hill Giant. Let's take a closer look at this card and understand its potential in the game:
- Stun: Has a chance to stun the opponent when hitting the attack. The stunned opponent is 01 turn without being able to attack and use abilities.
The Hill Giant is a monster with a lot of HP when considering its summon cost. Its weak point is its low speed and lack of shield. It benefits in battles with low MP consumption or with the Little League rule active. A battle with your participation will be shown below.
The strategy before the battle
The battle had the Fog of War and Little League rules active, 58 MP available, and only Earth, Death, and Dragon Splinters were enabled. Analyzing my opponent's history, I saw that it was difficult to predict which team I would use, so I looked for a defensive formation against the Opportunity skill that benefits from the Fog of War rule, using Summoner Mylor Crowling.
As a tank I chose Hill Giant with a lot of HP and put Queen Mycelia in the penultimate position with Protect and Amplify and Doctor Blight in the last position with Affliction and Poison. I also put the Opportunity trio composed of Venari Scout, Screeching Vulture and Parasitic Growth in second, third and fourth positions.
Once assembled, the team was hoping that there was enough melee attack to receive damage from Thorns, but only 02 monsters on the enemy team were melee.
The battle
My opponent came with Summoner Owster Rotwell. As a tank he had the Animated Corpse with Void and as a second tank he had Xenith Monk with Heal. In third position was the Riftwing with Scavenger and Backfire. In fourth place was Life Sapper with Life Leech. In fifth position was Twisted Jester and in last position was Grenadier with Opress and Snare.
My opponent's objective was to counter a possible magic team and destroy my tank if he didn't have an attack with the Opress skill. As I didn't fit into either option, my team would only have to eliminate the most vulnerable targets to close the match.
In the first round Life Sapper and Grenadier were eliminated with the attacks of Venari Scout, Screeching Vulture and Parasitic Growth.
In the second round my Hill Giant was downed after the Animated Corpse's attack, but it went down with Thorns' damage. Then it was Xenith Monk's turn to fall with Queen Mycelia's attack.
In the third round, no monsters were killed.
In the fourth round the Riftwing was eliminated by the Venari Scout and the Twisted Jester went down with Screeching Vulture's attack.
My opponent was surprised by the trio with Opportunity and lost 02 monsters key to his victory, which were Life Sapper and Grenadier. The Hill Giant fulfilled its role by delaying enemies while its allies took down the enemy's rear.

A batalha
Na quarta posição estava o Life Sapper com Life Leech.
