Forty three years ago I moved away from the Milwaukee area to the Chicago area. I was transferred for my job. I was young and alone in a strange area. I was still living with my parents when I accepted the job and then moved. I knew some of the workers, because it was our regional office and I would talk with them from time to time. But none of them lived near me.
The next time I moved it was with my husband (we got married a year after I moved to the Chicago area). We were both transferred to Columbus. Two years later we moved to the Dallas area.
About four months ago my husband and I left our children in the Dallas area when we moved to the Houston area. I think this was the most difficult move. We lived in the Dallas area for about 36 years. Three of our children and long time friends were left behind.

This week we are visiting and reconnecting with our children and our friends. It seems like we've been away "forever," but it hasn't been that long.
Last night we were invited to one of our friends' homes for homemade pizza. It is amazing that you can just pick up where you left off.
Moving is difficult.
